I'm into industrial steampunk and think the 560 has the lines and looks of it. I don't dress steampunk but my entire home décor is industrial art deco. The Flash Gordon futuristic slogan really fits me and that is where I came up with flash nine thirty one as the trailer name.

This picture was taken on The Continental Divide on I-90 in Montana. The art is not on the trailer but rather photoshopped in. Imagine it larger and on each side.

I'm also thinking of including some sort of large gear drawn with it. I need to take a picture of the trailer's profile so I can see what it would look like.

I did not know that about Port Townsend but go there several times a year. Chances are I'll stop there when we do hwy 101 later this month.

I'm not as attuned to the steampunk aesthetic. To my untrained eye the lighting bolt within a circle brings to mind the Grateful Dead logo. Not sure if others would make that same false connection or not.

It is from the Flash cartoon series.

What I want is a custom design where it will be the only one like it. I'm still in the thought process but I'm thinking maybe having something painted on the skin like how we did Army vehicles and how a lot of famous planes and trains were painted.

Just think of the Memphis Belle.

Thanks Bear, I'll be going through Port Townsend on my coast trip. It is a place I go to a few times a year. Don't you live near highway 101 in Washington? If so I would like to stop and visit.

That route would make us miss US 101 from Tumwater to the WA 20 cutoff. Better we stick to our US 101 plans and just take the Port Townsend/Coupville ferry over and back. Jenn and Bear can you meetup on Tuesday, January 23rd? We would be taking a morning ferry over (9:30?)and an evening ferry back (6:00?). I have the schedule written down so if we are running ahead or behind I can adjust.

We want to eventually continue this trip down the Oregon and California coasts.

Bear, what you say is true and I've taken that route many times. Sometimes taking the Edmonds/Kingston over and the Port Townsend/Coupeville back. It is so much easier to do it that way that the land route around the South Sound gets few visits. I seldom ever drive that stretch of 101 north from I-5.

That link is to an artist rendition of the trailer and is not very accurate. If you google Thomas Dolby Time Capsule you will find numerous pictures and a youtube video that Thomas made when he put it up for sale. Thomas did not use it as a camper. Not sure who told you it is "unpunked" since I bought it and have not said that. The interior had a panel mounted at the cabinet location. If you are about 3 foot tall you could sleep in it as is. I happen to be much closer to 6' than 3'. The panel had to come out in order to get a mattress in it. The propane was disconnected an the bottle removed and a "Flux Capacitor" mounted in the propane bottle location. I have removed the Flux Capacitor which weighed about 70 lbs and reinstalled and connected the propane system. The steampunk smoke stack covered the furnace intact/exhaust making the furnace unusable. In the summertime, I may install the stack, but if I want to use the heater, then it has to come off. All the decals are still in place. The interior is partially covered with a naugahyde covering. Unfortunately it only went as far as the panel, so looks funny. Not sure what I will do, but probably pull it off to see the wood again. Since I bought it so that I could camp in it (not rich enough to just look at it), I think you will understand some of the modifications that I made. I am thinking about other mods that could be made to punk it up and still be usable as a camper.
