It has been hot lately (forecast of 100 tomorrow), and shade has been somewhat scarce at most of the campgrounds that we encounter. So we have been seeking out campgrounds with power, so that we can run our AC and stay cool.

We were aiming for one of two Forest Service campgrounds north of town (hoping there would be shade), when we noticed a sign pointing to this city RV park. It is easily our favorite campground of the past two years and it is not on AllStays! Donations are accepted (no set price - similar nearby city parks charge $10-$20 for similar amenities). There is power and water, and two brand new two toilets with running water and sinks. Showers can be had at the pool next door for $1.50 (or $3 to swim), and the library is nearby with free WiFi. Plus lush grass and plenty of shade!

This is an interesting corner of the world. Agate Fossils Natl Mon is to the south, Fort Robinson State Park is to the east and there are some interesting toadstool rock formations to the NE. It is worth exploring this area if you are headed through on your way to the Black Hills or elsewhere.
