To get as light a load as possible I removed the wood storage bins, both tables and even the cooler. But what I found was that all the weight I removed was from behind the axle. I checked my tongue weight on a bathroom scale and it was 218 pounds. Much heavier than I wanted so I added one table and the cooler back. In addition I also moved other heavy items like my tool kit, an old .22 lever action rifle and 1,000 rounds for plinking to the foot area. My tongue weight is now 192 pounds. I still have to fill the ice chest but I suspect 50 pounds in it will only reduce the tongue by 5 to 8 pounds.

This may sound crazy but I would like to add about 35 pounds to the 2" hitch in the back. But I'm also thinking the sofa platform and back must weight about that much. If I could reduce that weight to half I would be getting an estimated 12 to 15 pounds off the tongue.

My shakedown trip to Flowing Lake told me to check it. I could feel it back there.
