"Hi, my name's Ken, and I collect cast iron..."

We had a great weekend, spent at a friend's cabin in Wisconsin. Situated on a ridgeline in the SW, 'driftless' area of the state. A really beautiful spot. Saturday was kind of rainy, but we made the most of it, hitting several junk/thrift/antique shops. I picked up a few pieces, and this is the 1st of the bunch to get cleaned and seasoned - a Wagner popover/muffin pan.

Now I need a good recipe...

Ah! Yes "CICA" Cast Iron Collectors Anonymous. It can be an addiction. I usually steer Sue in another direction when she spots it. Or remind her "Don't you already have three or four of those?".

Jenn, there is a certain beauty to these old pieces, isn't there? I'll try to remember to get a picture of whatever recipe I wind up making.

Jim, it's not like I'm buying big kettles or stoves - I only have a few skillets and a couple dessert pans...

That's for sure Jenn. And 'my people', the Scandinavians, moved there in pretty big numbers. Hence the Krumkake & Aebleskiver pans, but we weren't talking about cast iron, were we?

And that's how it starts. Just a few small pieces. And before you know it you're tripping over it.

There are some beautiful dutch ovens lurking out there, seek and ye shall find.

Well, we are off to Indiana for a weekend of camping - to Potato Creek State Park. The weather outlook is improving a bit, but it's been too long since we last camped, so we're going to chance it. Besides, if it rains, there's always a junk store close by.

    Ken,

I think any further posts from you on this topic would do better in the 'Camp-Inn Confessional' area.

See, it starts with an aebleskiver and then you're on the hunt for a dutch oven. Will it ever end?

I Don't see that happening. I think George is the head of the Cast Iron Cartel.
