If you're looking for a for an alternative way to cook biscuits out of a can, this might be for you. I went tent camping up in Idyllwild with a friend this weekend. Because of the severe fire danger, cooking was limited to the charcoal grill, a portable stove, or a portable fire pit (duraflame log or charcoal only). The dutch oven was at home, so we decided to try experiment with biscuits on a stick...(yes, the ones out of the can). We used the square shish kabob sticks we use for marshmallows. What we found:
    1) Biscuits in their normal form don't work well. Stay gummy in the middle but still puff and brown well, but the experiments continued...
    2) Smoosh and twist the biscuit around the tip and down the stick about 3 inches and you can roast a perfectly tasty treat in about 3 minutes.
    3) Better yet, thread a 1/2 stick of cheddar or monterey jack cheese lengthwise and then do the same smoosh and spiral around the cheese. Make sure the dough is thin and brown it evenly until the cheese bubbles out of one end. Kathy and I used the cheeseheads brand in the string cheese type individual packets. Packs well.
    4) We also cooked the biscuits on the stovetop griddle over charcoal in the firepit. Flip when golden and then tilt on sides to brown evenly. Was a perfect side for the steak with garlic sauce.
Nope, this isn't gourmet, but we sure had fun and hope you will too!

Biscuits on a stick are an old favorite. If you stretch the dough & spiral it around the stick, with sides touching & bake, you will get a golden "tube." When done, slide off the stick & spread butter/jelly/jam inside...yum!
