When we fried our camper battery a couple of years ago we were without cabin lights for a while, so we purchased the Black Diamond Orbit Lantern:

It works as either a lantern, flashlight or both. It has two hooks above the lantern that we use to hang it from the manual knob on our rain sensing Fantastic Fan, so that we had light for reading as we limped home to replace the camper battery. But we've found plenty of other uses for it.

We use it pretty regularly in the cabin during the winter, as the wide angle flashlight beam gives us lots of light when playing cards or a board game (the standard cabin lights create too many shadows).

It has also been helpful when investigating issues in our deep storage bins, providing extra light for taking photos/videos in order to attempt to see what is going on in those tight spaces. Or when working under the trailer or van, where it provides additional light.

It is powered by 4 AAA batteries.

We did an inventory of all our battery needs before we set off full-timing, replacing all of our batteries with Amazon Basic Nickel Metal Halide batteries. They are awesome, and we can easily recharge them either via shore power or 12v with this battery charger:

We haven't had to buy batteries the past six months, as the NiMH batteries recharge quickly and hold a charge. They seem to be able to hold a charge as well as when we first got them.
