Cheraw State Park

Drove through the campground at Cheraw State Park while we in the park to see if it would be a good place to camp. We liked what we saw. There a 17 sites with paved driveways and many of them back up to the 360 acre Lake Juniper in the park. Across the lake are the day us facilities including an 18 hole golf course in the park. Each site had a fire ring, picnic table and lantern posts. The campground was also very shady. This side should be quiet with everything else on the other side of the lake. You can drive over or there is a trail to cross over on foot if you want to swim on the beach at lake or rent a canoe.

Located about 30 minutes west of I-95 and just below the border with North Carolina. It is probably 1.5 hours to Myrtle Beach from here. If you are jazz fan, you will know the name Dizzy Gillespie. Cheraw is where he was born and grew up.
