Does anyone know why some 560 model years have the front storage cabinet door hinges on the sides so the doors open out to the side and some have the hinges on the bottom so the doors swing downward? It seems like the newer ones swing downwards which looks kind of awkward, but maybe that lets you reach into the cabinet without having to completely remove the back sofa cushion?

You are correct, it is so you can get into the cupboards by simply tilting the cushion. Early ones are the other way, and at least one owner modified them to open from the top and the factory changed it.

    Thanks for the explanation :)
