  1. Great Campground! 12 sites for campers. Electrical and water at sites. Bathroom with 2 showers. There is a tent only loop nearby. Only 2 are pull through sites but all are spacious and have fire ring and picnic table. Gravel sites. You do have to pack your trash out but they do have recycling. Lots of hardwood trees to give you shade too. Nice place away from a lot big campers.

You are st the top of the hill so you have a great viewof the nearby mountains. It is on Lake Keowee but you way above the lake. The park does have put in area if you bring a kayak or canoe. This is a large man made lake. There are hiking trails and there is a large picnic area across the highway from campground. SC 11 is the Cherokee Foothills Scenic Highway. There are 5 other State parks along it. There are lots of outdoor activities in the area. You are also near the Sumter National Forest and the Nine Times Nature Preserve.

    We will definitely be back!

  2. Just finished our third trip here. Still a great place to camp a year later. Park Ranger was very visible and she cleaned the restrooms 2 or 3 times a day. The trash deal keeps some away and you do have a pretty steep to hill climb after you gone to the restroom or shower. When booking you want to be on the right hand side of the road that goes through the campground. The main drawback to the left is you will have the cars entering the campground driving behind you to enter the campground. Sites 4 and 6 are pull through and very large sites with great views of the sunset. Of the Back In Sites, I would choose 1, 2, or 3 for ease of backing in and space between sites. The others are all pretty close to the neighboring sites. Site 10 is a Handicapped Spot. The have opened an additional trail that is 4 miles long.

Just to report that we totally agree with Warren & Mary Ellen - this is a great small campground. We choose this for our first excursion - just a short 15 miles from home.

We were in pull-thru site 4 at the top of the hill. There were only two other sites in use while we were there so it was not crowded. We had a great time there and never left the park.

We enjoyed all the hiking that was available (during our visit they had closed the new 4 mile section of trail due to significant damage from severe rain just a bit earlier). The cooler than normal temperatures were great. We definitely will be bring the canoe on the next trip.

They have added a trash dumpster at the campground entrance that looked brand new.

  4. Glad you had a good time there, it is one of our favorites as we told you. They must have settled their dispute with the trash company or found someone new to collect it. Yes, and it is a great place for canoe/kayaks with that launch down at the lake. And yes, the late summer like temps in SC in June were really nice this past week.
