Little Pee Dee State Park

Little Pee Dee is in a remote of Dillon, SC. The town of Dillon is located just off I-95 and the park is probably about 10 miles or east of it. If you are entering South Carolina on I-95 from North Carolina, Dillon is one of the first exits you come to and as far as supplies, would be your best bet.

The campground has 32 site with water and electricity. Sites were gravel and had a picnic table and fire ring. This was a very shade campground and several of the sites were either on or had nice views of the lake in the park. One of the recent hurricanes had caused a breach of the dam but that is repaired now and the lake had just filled up the week we were there. Down by the playground is a piece of petrified wood which is rare in this area. The ranger told us he busy in the spring and fall, but the heat of summer keeps most people away.

You are about an hour away from the Myrtle Beach area and would be closer to North Myrtle Beach. The closest place to get on the beach would be Cherry Grove which is the farthest North of North Myrtle Beach beaches. If you just want some good seafood go to Little River and eat on the docks on the water. (We like Crab Catchers). Calabash, NC is an option too.

This park will be quiet and mostly attract people who want to get away from everything.
