Where are you going in 2026?

Good for you! That is the best time to be there, before schools get out and the crowd becomes crazy yet the weather is usually perfect and the waterfalls are bursting.

Where are you going in 2026?

We are planning a long trip in the summer from home in L.A. north through Yellowstone then Glacier then Banff etc., working west to Vancouver, then down the coast back to L.A. I reserved some sites around the National Parks but the rest is pretty open ended. BTW, I liked the way Canada works...

    Heater issues

Over Thanksgiving weekend we went camping in the California desert with some friends, It was getting pretty darn cold at night and we flipped on the heater and it flipped itself off. It was never able to ignite and we got by borrowing extra blankets. The heater had failed this way several years...

    Utah Itinerary to Share?

I don't know how you feel about minor boondocking but if you don't need a hookup and would like to visit Zion and be able to escape the mob, I have a nice free option for you. The town of Hurricane is nearby and there is an area near there where there is free, dispersed camping that I have used...

Southern CA - Fellow Camp-Inn Owners?

Hi Geoff, I'm in L.A., Westchester, and have been enjoying my 550 Ultra since 2012. Still love it and use it quite a bit, mostly at boondocking sites or as a mobile motel if traveling. Made a few mods to mine as well. Have fun!

    Favorite Budget Not-from-ci-accessory

Just back from a long haul trip and I thought I would pass on what is one of my favorite add-ons, an outdoor rug for the galley area. I have had a roughly 4x6 polypropylene rug that looks great, is easy to clean off and keeps the galley area from getting you dirty and maybe muddy. Very simple...

Scissors jack stabilizers - a word of warning

Recently we camped on a very uneven site and I needed to run one jack nearly all the way up to level the rear of the trailer. Also, the ground in front was higher than the rear so that jack was shortened to the limit though it still left our heads higher than our feet. All was fine until we set...

    New Mexico or Bust!

One suggestion if you can work it in is El Morro National Monument. Fascinating, to me at least. It is at a spot that had year round water, making it a stop for everyone travelling through the region for the last 400 years. The sandstone rock is carved with the records of everyone from Spanish...

    Single cup coffee makers

IMO, the best thing about the aeropress is the ease of cleanup compared to the mess of a French press at a campsite. Just pop off the puck of coffee, wipe it off a bit and rinse with a minimum of water.

FOR SALE Custom Auxilliary Battery Box

I used one of these boxes to add an auxiliary Renogy Li battery that I use exclusively for my fridge after I got tired of going through Pb batteries in the trailer. Since I added a CTEK device to the trailer that became the charge controller for the solar panels, I didn't need the controller on...

    Bear Question

I can see why they would have a policy like that but really... We use the side tent with a bucket toilet with kitty litter and dump the bag in the morning. My wife would NEVER camp without it. (No. 1 only though.) We've camped in Yosemite a lot and other bear country sites and never had a problem.

Mattress Options For A Softer Mattress

Well, like I said, the fact that our trailers are just a bit narrower than a standard queen makes it a snug fit so sliding it up and folding it is not as easy as it could (should!) be. You could certainly still do it though the exposed area would be down at the feet where there is less room and...

Mattress Options For A Softer Mattress

Just seeing the volume of different replies shows you how individual it all is. I'm just chiming in to make another vote for the Milliard tri-fold mattress. The more complicated you make this project, the more trouble you will have changing sheets. The tri-fold option makes getting fitted...

    Kelty Sideroads Awning

I have one of these and have used it that way using 2 loops around the galley hatch locking bar. It does make closing the hatch more problematic however so I generally attach it similarly to RGupnorth's. I like its quick setup and the wrap-around aspect of it is good for keeping rain out...

    Auto Battery Load Disconnect

When setting the voltage cut-off level on the refrigerator, keep in mind that there is a temporary voltage drop each time the compressor switches on. It quickly returns to a higher equilibrium voltage as it runs but if you have set this at a higher V level to cut off it will likely shut down...
