    2026 Camping Gear

I blinked while shopping at REI and suddenly noticed I owned this Nemo Stargazer Evo-X. Not the lightest or cheapest but on the former, I figure it's for camp, not backpacking. And it is absolutely GLORIOUS to sit in. Looks weird, but super well designed and has lifetime warranty. (I'm a sucker...

Good new read on Substack -- "Time. Speed. Distance.

Another good entry -- part two on "The Weighting" (Who knew there were trailer hitch balls with built-in tongue scales?!) Warning: Much math and some corrections ahead! The Weighting Is the Hardest Part*, Part 2

Good new read on Substack -- "Time. Speed. Distance.

Craig Lancaster is a one-time newspaper colleague and a talented published author. He's just starting his journey in (more or les) full time travel trailer living. Not a Camp-Inn or a teardrop. But a good read and good, familiar topics and considerations. The Weighting Is the Hardest Part*, Part 1

Hello everyone! We're looking for campers who tow with a Jeep Gladiator.

I have a 22 Subaru Outback Wilderness. Tows great. Love the vehicle. Hate the mileage. Slowly waiting and hoping for Subaru Toyota-infused hybrids to build out the line. Right now, they only have the Forester Hybrid, which unfortunately has a 1,500-pound towing limit. But any of the vehicles...

Better Late Than Never Thanksgiving On North CA Coast

Reminds me. Before I entered teardrop world, I visited Jade Cove in California's Big Sur. (This is a rare spot where you can find true natural jade in the U.S. -- if you're lucky. Was easier in decades past. But I remember there's a very nice campground right near there on the coast -- Plaskett...

    Worst Trailer Comment Yet!

I still have to wrestle with these two realizations/emotions: 1. There's a trailer format out there for everyone and their subjective needs. It's a little bit human nature that in order to justify our choice, there's a tendency to dismiss other choices as somehow wrong. I may not need to stand...

    Lots of opinions on Canopies

I just looked again, and the website product photos still show the triangular back door.

2,400-watt solar generator -- running the AC?

And perhaps I should be more open to the generator thing. My first-blush gut reaction is ooh, no, too noisy.

2,400-watt solar generator -- running the AC?

Thank you, gents. This is reassuring info. Not looking for weeklong solution. But it's HOT down here in Texas more of the year than not and even a night or two with AC option opens up a whole lot more camping options on the calendar. Big Bend as I visited recently (reminds me I should post about...

2,400-watt solar generator -- running the AC?

Having a look at Anker's C2000 solar generator. On paper, specs indicate it can power a small RV or home refrigerator sufficiently. Thoughts on using it off grid to run the Camp-Inn air conditioner? Andy ifs, ands, or buts as far as the electrical system and how it would be hooked up? If a hard...

    Lots of opinions on Canopies

They do. They are a triangular rear entry zipper entry (matching the mesh panel line). Clam shelters do not have a second opening though some owners have found a third-party fix to create one.

    Interior Decor- light sconces

Quite nice. But I’m far too in love with the unique look of the original choice.
