    Furnace Ceramic Heater Vs. Furnace

We've slept in mid 20's with a down comforter and were fine without furnace. We have small ceramic 110 heater like some others mentioned to warm the cabin up a little before bed and when we get up

Essential gear for pick up trip

The Alcove has held up for us quite well in bad weather with the bungees and you'll be glad you got the windwall; it adds protection from rain and sun and adds a little privacy if you want.

Essential gear for pick up trip

SarahNell, I see you have an REI Alcove. We have one and it works well but if you haven't seen the discussions about them in some other threads you need to know that in a heavy rain they tend to collect water and eventually collapse from all the water. An easy solution is a 12 pack of 36"...

    Lots of opinions on Canopies

Re: More on Canopy Jenn, if you decide to get an REI Alcove don't forget to pick up a 12 pack of 36" bungee cords to use as rafters. If you don't the first good rain you'll have a great deal of water pool and probably a collapse of the shelter. The bungees eliminate this design flaw. There is a...

Howdy from the Lone Star state!

Welcome from a pair of fellow Texans. We have really enjoyed our 550 for the past year. We just got back yesterday from a 2 week trip to upstate NY, Vt.,NH and Maine. Great trip and the 550 was perfect. Maybe we'll see around the state parks of Tx.

Fantastic Fan Fan-tastic Vent Ultra Breeze

Thanks. I'll have to see what I can find. Haven't gotten my vent yet so I didn't realize they said what type of sealant to use.

Fantastic Fan Fan-tastic Vent Ultra Breeze

Looking at adding this to my trailer, since like you we don't have ac. One quick question. What type of sealer did you use when you re installed the screws?

    Where to find Woody Wax?

The regular Woody's wax spray is very easy to do especially on a new trailer. Could easily do that before you hit the road. The XXX paste wax is more work and more time (need a buffer) but offers better and longer lasting protection.

    Where to find Woody Wax?

A 16 oz can of Woody XXX paste wax will do at least 10 trailers. A little goes a long way and if you use too much it will take forever to buff it out and remove any swirls. You definitely need a buffer and it takes about 2 hours maybe a little less if you're fast. On a new trailer for the...

    Mattress Topper

I know others have talked about memory foam getting hard in the cold but we have a walmart memory foam topper and have been down in the 20's and have not experienced that. We do have a quality down comforter, maybe that insulates it enough.

    A big howdy from Austin

We have the 550 and have been very happy with it. Haven't felt the need at all for the couch and our kids are grown so we don't need the room. Like Al we didn't get the heater or the ac. We've been down in the mid 20's and were fine with a down comforter. Also went to Palo Duro a couple...

    Bike racks

Might look at orsracksdirect.com and check out the various racks under truck racks. One like the Inno Velo Gripper might work depending how much you carry in bed of truck.

    REI Alcove Shelter

Glad you found the idea helpful. Easy solution to what seems like a design flaw in a shelter that otherwise works great with a CI.

    REI Alcove Shelter

I have the REI Alcove also and have an alternative to the grip clips you're talking about, especially if it is a difficult area to drive stakes or if like me you just really don't like having to stake out guy lines. I bought a 12 pack of 36" bungee cords and stretch them from the ridge pole to...
