    Cpap Power For Boondocking

Hi. I'm not sure whether there is a charger that would fit in the same location. I haven't gone that far with my analysis. But I expect there is another spot where a charger can reside, if the current spot is too small. I'm trying to recall if we have other members who have gone the LiIon...

    Cpap Power For Boondocking

stock charger does not work, afaik, with different battery chemistry I think a 75 AH LiFePO4 would be more power than a 150AH AGM

    Cpap Power For Boondocking

Seth - I believe you need a different charger if you use different battery chemistry. unrelated: I need to search the old battery threads to see what folks have concluded about placing a second battery beneath the sink. There is room there for a 75 ah battery. -Al

    Proposed Modular Roof-mount Solar Project

or (and?) you could put a second battery under the sink.... Admittedly this doesn't solve the problem of charging from the tow vehicle, but it would give you more days I like the idea of a GoalZero or some other portable battery solution, to allow us to put the fridge into a bear box if needed...

    50 Nights Booked

Lucky you!! How many days in advance are you/we allowed to book sites in Washington? Looks like you can book 9 months (to the day) out, and for up to 10 days (i.e., on 10/26/2018 I can book 7/26/2019 and for the next 9 nights after that) (perhaps this differs for different parks?) -Al

    Cpap Power For Boondocking

I am wondering, did you analyze/measure whether the larger Victron Super Cycle AGM would fit in the TD's battery hatch? Something else I am wondering about this (and other) batteries: Does it damage the battery if you discharge it and then recharge it, but only partially recharged? There are...

    Cpap Power For Boondocking

Thanks! I've got one, too, but it isn't a real solution for me, it seems. But I keep it around to use in an emergency as it may provide some help.

    Galley Ventilation

Keeping the fridge in the closed galley on a hot day will suck the TD battery down too quickly if it's a warm sunny day. Our current solution: When driving: fridge is in Tow Vehicle When in camp and using fridge, fridge is on side table When in camp sleeping: fridge is in TD, in galley...

100 Nights In Ss Joyful Tear (#450)

The maiden voyage of the SS Joyful Tear (#450) was in October 2011. It took 5 years to achieve our first 100 nights (114 nights to be exact, and 11,200 miles) - through a combination of monthly 3-day weekends within 1-2 hours of home, and a 1-2 week trip each year. Our tow vehicle is a 2004...

4 Weeks In August, Mostly In Washington...suggestions?

I visited Crater Lake two years ago or so, so we are likely skipping it in 2019. If the air quality is excellent when we approach Oregon I may tweak my plans. Our Oregon trip was marred by a lot of smoke from fires, so the scenery was significantly diminished. Bringing a camper to the San...

    Solar/Battery power needs calculation

Your calculations and success depend entirely on just how much sun you are getting. In my experience, if you have a good day of sun (and not in winter), the solar will charge the battery more than the Dometic will eat battery. But if you are in a campground with reasonable tree cover, each...

    Flexible Solar Panels

I agree with you 100%. Half the reason I'm spending energy on improving the electrical capacity is for CPAP use while boondocking. Hmm, maybe that means any power upgrade I make could be tax deductible..... I also agree that it's better to park the teardrop in the shade. The main gain, I...

    Flexible Solar Panels

The more solar the better. Buy the biggest panel you can carry. You'll need all that and more when you camp in sites that have tree cover. I have a 120W panel. It can stay ahead of the fridge if we are getting lots of sun and the ambient temp is below 85 degrees or so (and if the fridge is...
