    Chaco Canyon, Etc.

Recently returned from a friend visiting, site-seeing and hang gliding trip through Utah, Colorado and New Mexico and back to Cal. We lucked out and got the only open campsite night for weeks in Arches N.P. on the one day I needed it for the trip out. It's a great place to hang and hike if you...

Bumper Camper Bumper Saved The Day!

And besides all that, it gives you something to stand on to wash the top and somewhere to hang a trash bag.

    Folding Bed Mattress Upgrade?

I just got back from a week mostly in King's Canyon N.P. using a new 6 in. Milliard tri-fold and I am very happy with it. Yes, there is less clearance for your feet but I had no problem at all and the mattress is so comfortable, a big improvement in my opinion. I think the mattress is 1 inch...

    SW Trek - 5 Nat'l. Parks

Noticed your setup picture and the bike rack caught my eye. Looks like it is mounted on the trailer? What did you use?

Yakima Road Shower On Roof Rack-- Weight Issues?

Rupert, I'm pretty sure I'm too late to reply to this older thread, but I got one of these and I'm very happy with it. Extreme Shower for use with any gas or propane stove | Zodi.com Heat it up for a few minutes on the stove where it just fits and you're ready to go. Has a built-in thermometer...

    Folding Bed Mattress Upgrade?

Thanks. I'm in SoCal where it's dry (except for today) and have no need to get the mattress off the floor so that is not an issue. It might make things too cramped for the feet though. Still not sure it would work since it would be snug and I haven't heard of anyone else here doing it. My size...

    Folding Bed Mattress Upgrade?

I'm looking to get this tri-fold mattress mainly to ease changing sheets. We currently use an added memory foam topper on the original mattress and I am wondering if anyone has tried the 6 inch version? Seems like it would fit since it's like a 4" with a 2" foam topper.

    Electric Cooler Problems

Just happened to see your post. I got the smaller one, the BD/C 40 from the Classic Series. Very happy with it. It's a quality product.

    Side Tent Platform

Another option is just to use a pair of plywood pieces as a floor in the tent, an idea I that someone else contributed here. I cut and varnished the wood to fit and store them under the mattress when traveling. We rarely bother to stake the tent, just put those in and it's adequate for most...

    Venezia Surpasses 100 Nights

Like your galley canopy setup. Did a search of that company's stuff and it looks like they don't sell it anymore.

    Electric Cooler Problems

Sounds like the PCB that runs the fridge has a problem. I had a similar problem and managed to find a replacement board for the Dometic online somewhere and put it in. It worked for a period but the fridge failed again. I guess mine was a lemon. I got tired of getting stuck with a dead fridge...

Tetons Yellowstone Glacier To/from Sf Bay Area....suggestions?

OK, here are a couple suggestions for unusual "roadside attractions." Plan a route through Craters of the Moon, a very interesting volcanic area with some nice little hikes through caves. That whole area of Idaho is very volcanic. Scratch the ground a bit and you hit lava rock. On the way...

    Another "ooops"

Yeah, I'm in the hitch ball club too. Fortunately, the hitch came off as the trailer made the transition and bump up to a section of newly blacktopped highway -- nice and smooth. Unfortunately, we were going pretty fast. The hitch remained useable though.

    Ctek Installation

We're beating this to death, but another experiment is how does a fridge affect things? I travel with the fridge in the vehicle and it's going to be drawing power, keeping the alternator in demand which I would think would be enough to trigger the Ctek, at least when the fridge is on. My guess...

    Ctek Installation

Maybe it's not high enough though when the smart alternator shuts down the alternator to save gas if it senses the car battery is charged. I can only add that Ctek specifically said not to connect the red wire to the incoming charge line but to a line that's on only when running. I found that...

    Ctek Installation

It's not that the voltage is higher there, it's just that there will only be voltage there when the car is running (unless I turn the lights on with the engine off), which is what we are after. The charge line going to the Ctek is connected directly to the car battery and will show 12V running...

    Ctek Installation

I'm adding one last post to this thread regarding the Ctek D250SA. I got the following reply when I asked Ctek tech. support about it: Since you have a smart alternator, it is necessary to connect the red wire to either the ignition or somewhere else that has voltage when the vehicle is...

    Ctek Installation

Has anyone who has installed a Ctek in their trailer and knows they have a "smart alternator" checked out how it is working? If you have a smart alternator, they instruct you to connect the small red wire to an ignition signal, but Cary says they never bother with it and don't know what it's...
