REI is having their annual 20% off Sale - you may need to be a REI co-op member to get the discount. We have a REI Visa which offers a yearly dividend toward REI purcchases. The dividend and the current sale allowed us to get the Alcove, two sets of wind walls, and a bunch of kitchen gear...

Announcement It Will Be A Long Wait

The last time we camped (last fall) I had to clean the leaves from the sunroof screen every day... And I still managed to get bits of leaves and twigs on the bed! Also, with the screen in place its difficult to see any stars anyway...

Itinerary 2nd Annual Maucicco Gathering. 2014

We would love to be there but one of our daughters is expecting her first baby in early August... She lives in Durham, NC which isn't very far away from the camp ground - so who knows, if the baby is late or early, maybe we'll show up...

    towing with Honda Element?

I've not been on the CampInn user forum for a couple months and just saw your posted question about towing with an Element. Sorry for the delayed response... Regarding opening the tailgate or rear hatch with the TD hitched, I've not had any issues. The tailgate just clears the tongue clamp...

    Bear Lake State Park (Cumberland)

Hi Matt, I hadn't logged onto the CampInn forum site for a few months and just noticed your comment on the Element SC. Thanks for the compliment. Yeah, I love the way the SC looks and it tows the TD well. We've gotten lots of compliments when towing the TD - they look great together...

Dan & Vanessa, Joan and I cheated... we just could't handle the wait for a new build so we bought a used 2005 - 550 Ultra... and we drove from Maryland to Arizona to get it. Some of our friends think we are a little nuts, but hey, they just don't understand. We have our fix and are loving...

    Bear Lake State Park (Cumberland)

We were in campground "A", (site 17) and the showers there were OK - I've seen better and worse. On Saturday the water heater for the women's bathhouse stopped working and Joan had to take a brisk, cold shower. Thankfully the weather was warm! Campground A overlooks the lake - Campgrounds B...

    help moving a trailer

I had a scrap chunk of 2 x 6 which I cut into three pieces for use in soft soil with the rear jacks or tongue jack wheel. I haven't had the need to use them yet, but I have them in the front storage hold for when the need arises. I love reading everyone's creative solutions to common...

    Bear Lake State Park (Cumberland)

The Federal budget mess forced us to change our plans to camp in Shenandoah National Park in the Virginia mountains last weekend. Plan B - We opted for Bear Lake State Park in Cumberland, VA in central Piedmont Virginia. It wasn't the beautiful VA mountains, and mid-day temps were in the upper...

grenade pin on the trailer tongue

For what its worth, I wrap and connect the emergency break away cable around the right side of the hitch receiver frame tube. This location seems to keep the cable free and clear of the safety chains while allowing plenty of slack to prevent pulling the "grenade pin" in a tight turn. Of course...

    towing with Honda Element?

I tow with a 2007 Element SC with an automatic transmission, 7 pin connector, brake controller, and charge the trailer battery via the connector. I also have a 2-inch receiver. Pay attention to the height of your hitch ball as too high or too low can negatively effect towing dynamics...
