    Camping While On The Road

Another must-do in that area: Mesa Verde National Park. Yes, it's off the beaten path, but it is an incredible place. You must take a ranger tour to go into the cliff dwellings, but it was nothing short of incredible to stand in those places, knowing that ancient people actually lived...

    Extras that I'd pay for

We're still in the process of deciding just which details we need/want, and here's what I think I'd be willing to pay extra to have: - The very best mattress possible. - More storage space for "outdoor items" such as chairs, canopies, etc. - Cabinet-style drawers instead of reach-down...

    550 / 560 550 Versus 560

We are sure we'll go with the 550 for several reasons: I like driving a small car and am not willing to commit to a larger vehicle 365 days a year (and losing gas mileage 365 days a year) so that I can have a larger camper -- for me, it isn't a good trade-off. Our kids are teens and...

    Camping While On The Road

We love the national parks. The only problem with them is that so few are located near us! You mentioned the Grand Canyon. You're absolutely making the right call going with the North Rim. Less crowded, lower temperatures. Loved it! While you're in the area, do not miss Antelope...

    dish towel

One more thing: I'll second the "buy quality" sentiment. Most of my cast iron belonged to my grandmother's grandmother and it dates back to around the War Between the States. That's the kind of life expectancy you can get from good cast iron. Leave the cheap aluminum on the shelf.

    dish towel

Jenny, your waffle pie iron is perfect for coking bacon. It'll cook well and will stay flat . . . And you'll season your iron at the same time.

    dish towel

A pie iron is a cast iron cooking piece -- think of it as an advanced hot dog stick. The cast iron "envelope" opens up to hold a grilled cheese sandwich, a hamburger patty, or cornbread. You can make all sorts of things with them. French toast, Cuban sandwiches, individual fruit pies...

    Other Trailers

We saw T@B trailers advertised somewhere a couple years ago and became interested in that. We live near two HUGE camping stores, and they had a couple T@Bs, so we took a look. Overall, I liked them, but they didn't seem "quite right" for us. We've not seen a teardrop in person -- yet --...

Carolina soon-to-be empty nesters want Teardrop!

One more thing: Today while I was out and about, I saw a Subaru Forrester -- I noticed it because so many of you said that you pull Camp Inns with them -- and I was surprised that it's NOT a big car at all. I was pleased to see that!

    Travel Gear & Equip.

Equipment aside, I love those of you who include wonderful close-ups of parts of your campers! It's very useful for those of us who are "shopping" for Camp Inns -- you're giving us a good idea of how big the cabinets, etc. are.

    Lappers

Camping aside, I think I'll be buying these as Christmas gifts later this year!

What are your 'top 3 must haves?

We don't have a camper yet, so this is a tent-camping answer: 1. My wonderful, wonderful sleeping bag (which, once we get a camper will translate into wonderful, wonderful bed linens). 2. My Kindle, so I can relax and read. (My husband's equivalent would be fishing equipment.) 3...

    Dish Storage

What's the answer on Corelle dishes fitting into the cabinet on the right? I have an old set that'd be perfect for this purpose.

    dish towel

I love a place for everything and everything in its place. And getting things UP off the counter is perfect. Is it possible to put screws into the hood (ribs?) for coffee mugs? Could it handle something heavy like a pie iron?

No teardrop is complete without this...

I think we'll need one of these both inside and outside the trailer. I'm horrible for forgetting the church-key. So bad, in fact, that my husband added a magnet inside the top of the cooler and attached a small magnetic opener!

Carolina soon-to-be empty nesters want Teardrop!

Thanks again to all who've answered my many questions! I've been reading this site and a couple other sites -- plus a library book -- and I feel like I know a whole bunch more than I did when I started! Gary & Bernadette, your comments on the heat & air were particularly valuable to me...

Considering a 560 for cross-country trip with kids

Security concerns: I have camped HUNDREDS AND HUNDREDS of times (with my parents, with youth groups, worked as a camp counselor, worked with an Outward-Bound type group in college, now with my own family), including plenty of LONG trips, and I have only TWICE been afraid for my safety...

Carolina soon-to-be empty nesters want Teardrop!

More good answers! Hardware without curtains sounds like a great solution. I'm a good seamstress and would prefer to make something to match my quilt, but I can't make hardware. Thanks for the clarification. Negotiations when buying -- thanks. You know, for a specialized item like...

Carolina soon-to-be empty nesters want Teardrop!

Thanks again, all, for the advice. I'm learning and shaping my opinions, but I'm not done with questions yet! Steve & Ellen, You say you have the 550 Classic with upgraded lighting -- I'm thinking that's just our choice. However, you said SUV height, and that sent me scurrying to read...
