SOLD 2014 Camp-Inn 550, $14,000

Western Washington, Camp-Inn 550 Classic with OEM modifications: tulip hinges (not piano hinges), SS bumper, AC & Fantastic Fan, electric brakes, solar controller. Lightly used, lovingly hand washed and dried after every trip, always garaged. No dents, tires kept inflated, and battery kept charged. We didn’t keep track of the mileage, under 10K; 3 long trips, most of the camping was in the parks of the Cascade Mts. Super easy towing with a small SUV (I had an older Honda CRV), easily fits in a single car garage.

Opinion on the offroad package: We have never had problems with pothole roads to state and forest parks. We also don’t blast through at high speeds. The lowest point on the 550 is about an inch lower than my KIA Sorento. If I had an offroad package, I would not be able to sit in the doorway to put on my shoes, my feet would be dangling.

Sad to see her go, but we bought a small 'contained' trailer a several years back. The Camp-Inn became my 'she trailer' for camping with 'the girls' because I can't imagine towing the new 21 ft trailer ;). I still can't back up a trailer... I get it backed into the driveway and then just push the 550 into final position. After 3 yrs of not going out with the Camp-Inn, I will recoup the space in my garage.

Side notes and sales pitch for a Camp-Inn trailer:
I used a REI-Alcove but turned it sideways for the galley. When we wanted a little cover overhead, we'd just slide it forward over the AC & both doors. It also helps keep the cabin cooler when we were absent of shade. We used the wind sides a couple times, and there was enough room for two camp chairs while I was cooking. We added 3 sections of PVC pipe to support the top fabric of the alcove. It seemed to work better than the bungee cords to prevent the sagging in the Western WA rain. I'd be seeing if anyone wanted my Alcove, except my daughter had dibbs.

To keep the SS counter pristine, I took placemats and sewed 12-14" of elastic in two places crosswise. I then looped over the lower/counter doors. No more marks from the fold up table on the SS counter.

For longer stays in primitive campsites, we added a double room privacy pop up to our camp set up. It allows us to take showers or carry a portapotty if needed. I set up a small chair & table on the dry side and we could then use it for a changing room too.

The 550 is easy to store in my 2-car garage. It's so light weight that if I needed access to the other garage bay, I just push it by myself over to the other side. Which by the way for those that don't know, the 550 will fit crosswise in a 2-car garage... :cool:

The new trailer quality is not even close to the quality of the Camp Inn trailer. We've had a warranty claim, recall, gave up on getting appointments for service and just fixed things ourselves. Paper/vinyl on pressboard, command strips fall off making delamination's. Not even close... Love the quality and design of the Camp-Inn. Our factory tour took 3 hours, it happens when Cary is touring 2 engineers from Boeing. :rolleyes:
 
The teardrop sold today. Sad to see her go, but happy that it was sold to enthusiastic new owners. Camp-Inns are meant to be out and about, not stored in a garage. :)

But you're right --- these are meant to be enjoyed to rot in a shed.
