Battery and de-winterizing ny 550 Camp Inn

I keep my 550 Ultra plugged in all winter. I went to check on the electrical system and I find No 12V power. I check the volt meter and it is blank, the power switch for the battery and water level meters is blank and will not turn on. None of my lights inside or in galley work- even plugged in to 120v power. hmm...
Pulled battery out of compartment - everything hooked up normal, I put a voltmeter on battery terminal and it reads ZERO- even a dead battery will read somethinI decide to hook up or jump to my cars 12v battery and the sytem works. Un hook jumper and everything is back on and working...
Is there a shut off shunt? Am I missing something ? Any one else experience anything similar ?
Standard battery that came from factory,- not lithium

You didn’t specifically say, and maybe you already know…

There is a battery shut off switch inside the right hand lower storage bin. With it turned off your battery would still charge, but nothing in the 12v system would work. It disconnects the battery from everything except the charger. Voltmeter on battery terminals reading 0 is not good.

Another possibility is a bad charger and a cabin light left on over winter storage.

If the system is up again, having maybe 14.4v on the 12v system when on shore power would indicate the charger is working.

Sorry no solutions, just more troubleshooting M

You didn't say if you have a lithium battery. If so, some versions of lithium battery have an internal "shut off" mechanism that powers down the battery to prevent parasitic drain. There is a reset procedure to turn it on, perhaps what you did woke it up.

so I went on Amazon to buy a 12v battery tester to see what state of health my battery is after going dead for an unknown amount if time. I bought the Konnwei 208 for $22..00 on Amazon. Battery health is in the picture at 98%. Talking to Cary I learned my electric brake controller draws an amp a day unless it is unplugged at the fuse. I am guessing with the Calif fires and power shut offs we went thru the battery charger somehow tripped off. I will now me more diligent checking my battery health. I suggest the battery health monitor as a must have to verify the health of your rv battery. They have really come down in price. Thanks for all the suggestions

I've drained my battery more than once! Usually, what happens is when I get home, I just put the trainer in the garage, the run inside to take care of "necessities" and forget to plug it in. I leave the fridge and stuff running as I am usually going out just about every weekend. Bad habit!!!!

As for the digital battery testers are OK, and honestly, I have one. I've gotten some sketchy readings when using the digitals. The old skool ones do a better job, in my opinion. There's something to be said about a resistive load. The big downside is they are heavy and big.

The best advice, if you use something like this one, is to make sure you're outside for the first few uses. The oils they put on the loads stinks when it burns off, just a little bit.
