Free shipping from Amazon

This is almost off-topic, but since we ordered most of our camping gear online I thought this might be helpful.

If you pay $80 for a Prime account with Amazon, you get free two-day shipping for an entire year. This is for anything sold by Amazon, and a large part of their partners as well. If you need something in a big hurry, you can do overnight for $2.

We have had this for almost a year, and I'm sure we have saved hundreds on shipping.
 
Worth it if you order a lot of stuff from Amazon. Out of the year I only order maybe 5 items from Amazon and usually those items have free shipping.

There are other programs through them that give you similar results. We do some of their 'subscribe and save' stuff, and somehow that got me on with Amazon Moms, which gave us a limited free shipping from Amazon. We order so much from them that we often are just given the 2-day shipping anyway.

I haven't had much luck with free shipping from vendors who sell through Amazon though (I definitely look at all of my options and go with the least expensive). I just ordered an RV rug, and paid $12 in shipping. With as far as the closest RV dealer, Camping World, or big box store is from our house, I figured with the price of our fuel (I am paying $3.99/gallon and down the road they are charging $4.09...glad I have a tear drop!), I was saving money with shipping it instead.

Just a few thoughts.

These days you HAVE to think like that - if you're smart! I think of cost of fuel, time, effort, etc. as opposed to shipping as well - and that's why I buy most things online. Also, taxes! Or lack thereof - so far... Christmas is so easy for me now - I don't have the energy to fight those crowds.

On that note - my computer repair guy told me that Coleman has an outlet store about 30 mins. from me that I didn't know about! He lived on the road in his RV full time for 15 yrs. and said he drools everytime he walks in there! I'll have to go ck. it out in person - after I google it and see what I can see!
