Hello Everyone,

First, thanks for adding me. I'm excited to be here, you are all so nice and helpful. I've been kicking around the idea to buy or not for sometime. Found this site and have been lurking for awhile now. Contacted Cary the other day about the kitchen style, hoping they could put doors on the front instead of having to move everything on the counter to access the storage. This isn't possible, but looking at all of your set ups, it might not be as big a deal as I think it will be. It does look annoying tho, thoughts?

Also, if I were to order one of these beauties, how long does it usually take to get it?

Anyone in the area that would like to show me their teardrop? I would love to see one up close and personal before I order.

Don't worry about the kitchen. It is a perfectly executed design for maximum countertop space and storage space. I absolutely love it.
 
Welcome, Jean. Nice to have you with us. I'm sure you can find someone close by to show you their CI. But be prepared, once you see it in the flesh, so to speak, you'll be hooked. That's what happened to us. Looked around for a few years, checked out the other products, then stumbled across a CI at Mt. Lassen. Done deal.

Don't fret over the galley, it works just fine. If you want more room, just shift things to the side tables. Once you figure out your system for fetching supplies before cooking, you'll be cooking with gas-literally.

Welcome to another Jean.

There are many Camp Inn in Minnesota.
Like you, initially I would have preferred a different set up then the ice cream counter doors. But have accepted them as they are because the over all top notch quality was more important.

If you are in the Rochester area, come on over.

Hi Sue and Jean! Thanks for the replies. yay! There's one! Rochester is a bit of a drive, in the weather especially. I'm up in the twin cities, Anoka area.

I have a feeling you ladies are correct, once I see one, I'm going to order one. Just wondering how long it takes to get one. Gosh, if I order one now, will I be able to use it this summer?

Thanks! Didn't see this before I posted. oh my gosh, that's a long wait! Shoot. I was hoping I could camp this summer in it. :(
 
Welcome! The wait can be long, but the fun part is during that wait... is the "nesting" period. That nest could be the garage the basement, or in my case, the living room. It's where you store all the absolutely-must-have-that for the CI before you get one.

Occasionally--and they don't stay there for long--in the for sale section on the forum a lovingly used CI will be available. Check in frequently and you may catch one.

If that doesn't work out, another thing you could try is CampInn does rent out their trailers--especially for potential buyers! You may want to check with Cary, see if on a weekend or two that works to rent a 550 and the 560--see which one works better for you. Obviously you wouldn't get yours any faster, but you'd still be camping in one a few times!
 
Jean, both of Camp-Inn's floor models are for sale. 0 Miles on either, and a good way to be in one without waiting. Otherwise the wait is somewhere around 6 months - or maybe longer. I've never noticed the storage bins to be an inconvenience, but then I don't do the cooking. :)

Welcome! You could also try Poplar Hill RV in Maine. He is the only dealer for Camp-Inn and he might have one available or one on order that you could get. I think there is a link on the Camp-inn website. If he has one on order you could pick it up at the factory.

We bought ours through Poplar Hill and were very pleased with the entire experience. I think the orientation might be more thorough in WI it seems. But they did a good job with the basics and the owner's manual and tips from this board were plenty.
 
welcome Jean, its long wait but its worth it, I am still amazed every time I go to garage, its like a piece of art. :)

So....can an old woman handle one of these on her own? I'm looking at the 560 so there is room for the grand kids. Hope they come to the show this weekend so I can see one.
 
I don't know if an old lady can handle it or not but I'm going to find out. I'm pushing 70 now. I do wish I had found out about these little campers sooner. When I retired at 60 I bought a new John Deere tractor. I love it and wish I had bought it sooner. I have a feeling that is the way I will feel about the teardrop. Imagine how much extra comfort I would have had with it instead of tenting.

Good for you, pat! I haven't camped in years. My husband passed away three years ago and it is time for this old girl to live again. Travel without the high costs of hotels...however..the high cost of these might not be worth it. I'm having a very hard time with the price. Sure...they are cool. Sure..they are nice..but will I use it enough to warrant it? Not sure. And I don't like problems..if she leaks I will be very disappointed. I hate wet beds...which is why I don't tent camp. I don't have the patience for that anymore. Too old to be drying out bedding.

Going to the RV show this morning...will check out the competition so I can compare.
 
Jean,

Consider Camp Inn has a higher price point, and hold their value upon resale. That fact does not hold true with large box retail travel trailers. I have no experience with lower price point teardrops about resale value.

Also, a Camp Inn will last a lifetime if properly cared for, outstanding customer service. Do the large box retailer RV's stand behind their product compared to Camp Inn? Not really, there is the exceptional dealer.
