We'll be heading to Aspen (from the east) with our 550 next week for a family gathering. We hate driving on interstates.

Is Independence pass doable towing with a 2.4L, 4 cyl, 6-speed automatic and NO trany cooler? (2014 KIA Sportage)

Independence Pass is perfectly fine as long as the weather is good, and it's a gorgeous drive. Have not towed over it, but have never had any problems. But Colorado weather, particularly on the Western Slope is finicky, and there have been occasional Fall snowstorms, so check the weather regularly while you are en route.
