Our Virginia State Park Campgrounds close for the season, the first Monday in December. We couldn't think of a better reason not to take advantage of the sunny/low 70's forecast, so off we went! We even drove over the border to NC, to stay an extra day in one of their state parks! What a glorious weekend!

Nice site, right on the water. What means "..to End thd season" heheh, season is just beginning... Yahooo... no BKTs, let the games begin... LOL, fun..

Frank, with your season just starting, I am hoping you will have some perfected science experiments for us! ;)

What a beautiful location!

Sarah, will be working on it....
You've seen the website, there's got to be something in there..

But "Perfected"...?
yikes... the pressure of it all...
It'll be fun fer sur...

Looks like we should retitle these pictures "Next to Last Gasp Camping"!
That's what we love about our Camp-Inn, and our "neck of the woods". Just returned from a spur of the moment weekend at a new ( to us ) NC state park- Medoc Mountain. Within 2&1/2 hours of our house, open year round, nice sites with electric, heated bath house with hot showers, great hiking trails, and a sweet little creek to canoe on. Great location for camping through the winter, which means there is a good possibility we could hit the 100 Night level by springtime!! In Frank's words....."Yahoo!!!"

Stop teasing me, with state parks that have facilities available all year. It's not fair. My option at the moment is garage camping.

What a great find - making me a bit jealous, as we get the first flurries of the year here...

We went camping this past weekend at a state campground on the beach, less than 20 minutes from my house.

and how much was it?

FIFTY BUCKS a night!

with NO hookups!

yes, it had bathrooms and showers, and it was clean, but $50 still seems like a lot.

you can get a site not ON the water for $35

Who will be the "last" camper of the year? Anyone camping on 12/31? No, camping in your garage does NOT count

:)

our next night is mid-January, also on the coast

50 bucks is expensive! I guess California needs the $$$$
We paid $30 for our site on the river (Virginia State Park), and that included water and electric. There is also a $5 per visit transaction fee. NC State Park was only $25, with electric.
Worst thing about Virginia State Parks, other than being closed for the winter, is the $5 per day fee for bringing a dog. Haven't quite figured that one out!

My guess would be that they charge it "because they can". ;)

We will brave the bitter cold Florida weather to ring in the New Year at Cedar Key Florida.

Today we are at Port Canaveral Jetty Park in our shorts and tee shirts braving the bitter cold .
Mike and Carol joined us for three days of good times and food. We invited them to ward off the lookie loo’s.

Frank, this is prime Florida NO BKT season. Yahoo !!!!! After the New Year no bk'S but the snow bird infestation gets bad.
