So we're zipping around the different forums and we noticed most of you guys have named your teardrops. That sounds like a fun idea, but I was wondering why stop there? I'm thinking nose art like the good old B17s or P40s......

Jim's not sold on it. Doesn't want to ruin the shiny new finish he has planned. I would love to have a Memphis Belle type cutie on the side of our trailer. We shall see.

Talk to fpoole. He has a great vinyl decal of a pin up on his trailer. He sent out the link for the lady that did the art, a while back. I think you can find the link in the thread for the NW Round Up. We have been considering doing this also. just needing to do some work on the gal before anything gets stuck to her.

I really like the idea of a pin-up on the trailer. Now I can show Jim I'm not alone in this.

By the way, what's the best product for cleaning and preserving the finish on our soon to be born CI? We hear a lot about something called Woodywax.

Oh boy! That is a big discussion that has been on going. Check out the care and maintenance section, and you can read all about it. We are currently using a car polish with an orbital buffer to polish her and get her shine back. Our plan is to use woody wax to protect her once that is all done. Hilditch suggested a medium car polish, like Turtle wax. We are using Mothers, and things are looking pretty good so far. The white oxidation spots are not coming out, but they are lessening (from a distance you can't see them anymore). Other marks, dirt and road grime are coming off.

If you are able to put a protectant on before you can leave Neceda (like Woody Wax or something), there will be less heart ache down the road (pun intended!). I wished I had known that. We ran into a big storm on the way home, with roads being salted, and that is what the white spots are from (they showed up pretty quick despite me getting the trailer to the car wash as soon as I could...wasn't soon enough). We aren't used to salted roads up here, so I probably wasn't as good about washing things as I should have been.

Just poked my nose in the maintenance blog...wow. Leave it to me to step in a big one first time out. But, lots of good info to check. That ought to keep Jim busy.

And speaking of my big boy, we were discussing a possible name for our CI. I suggested "RUN AWAY! RUN AWAY!" as in Monthy Python and the Holy Grail. He's still chuckling.

Hhhmmm..., maybe San Greal would do? Nah, too fussy. We'll work on it.

Sadly, I had most of these lines memorized before I laid eyes on my British husband...he could just appreciate it with me. It has been a while since we watched that one. I think we need to dust it off soon!

Had the pleasure last summer of seeing "Spamalot" on stage. It was fabulous!
 
Mick isn't much for musicals, but he thoroughly enjoyed Spamalot. It was such a fun show! All of it is just so good. We just don't have comedy like that anymore. They are true classic!
 
Yep, Jim and I went to a production of Spamalot last year. What a hoot! And funny you should all mention that play. Jim is thinking seriously of naming our CI Spamalot and have the license plate frame state: Run away, run away! I suggested Canalot, but he prefers the original. It's still early yet. We won't have the trailer until mid October.

And speaking of October, silliness and snow, maybe you can resolve a bit of a silly dispute between Jim and me. We carry chains for our truck, but I was wondering if we needed a set for the trailer. Jim says we won't, but I have visions of the TD fishtailing all over the place and tossing us in a ditch.

Now before all you experienced northern snow types roll your eyes and chuckle, remember: I'm a California native of the San Francisco Bay Area. We don't get much snow here-ever and I've only driven in it once on a trip to the Grand Canyon. That was a real white knuckle time for me. Just wondering.

And while we're at it....

I am glad you asked that question. I have no immediate plans to drive in snow but carry chains during the winter because there are certain areas that require it in town as well if you go into the mountains. I will be interested to see what others have to say.

I don't think that chains are allow in all states so you might want to check that out.
 
We use studded snow tires on the cars, but for the ice storms that come through, we have chains (just in case...we have never used them though). We do not have chains for the trailer, and will not get them. With snowy conditions, I will likely pack the trailer a bit heavier than usual, especially right over the tires and that is about it.

For the record, I have spent most of my life in the mountains, and learned to drive in snow, so we are pretty comfortable with the stuff, and know what to do in most instances (life does throw curve balls on occasion though!).

If things change and I end up doing some winter camping, studded tires might not be a bad idea although they too are not allowed in all states. I grew up in Wisconsin, so driving in snow is not intimidating just haven't had to do it too often out here and having all wheel drive helps. It's actually the other people on the road that you have to worry about.
 
The other people on the road. Yeah, when my dad first sat me behind the wheel he said, "Drive as if everyone else on the road is crazy."

Smart man.

Our truck is 4 wheel drive so that and the chains will do. We'll skip the chains for the trailer. We don't plan on snow camping, I was just worried about getting caught in some a sudden storm. Happens all the time when you're on the road and we'll be picking up the trailer in October. Got a feeling this winter is going to be just as nasty as the last. Yikes.

Of course I'm not going to end the letter like this....
