There are a few states that require previously titled vehicles to have the titles notarized at the time of sale before it can be registered. This normally does not apply to Camp-Inn customers because this does not apply to new manufacture. But, when purchasing a used one this can be an issue. This is a point we bring up during orientation that if the customer ever sells the trailer they should probably go through the notary process during the sale.
However, it is very possible that Montana is one of the states that requires this. If so, then this is something you and the seller will have to do at the time of sale. The seller cannot do it ahead of time, both parties need to be present and signing in front of the notary. So no, the seller won't be able to notarize it before coming out to meet you. You and the seller will have to find a notary at the meet up location and take care of it there.

Thanks, Cary, for your opinion. This can be a thorny problem when selling to someone from another state. And most Camp-Inn sales are inter-state, as we all know.
Minnesota, for instance, does not require notarized signatures for vehicle sales, and in fact, titles do not have space to allow this. Two banks we consulted (our own and another with branches all over the Midwest) flatly refused, though they did offer to notarize our signatures on a bill of sale. We consulted our legal and financial advisers about this, and they suggested offering the buyer a notarized bill of sale, as well as the signed title.
So your advice for the buyer and seller to meet in front of a notary is spot on. Protects both seller and buyer, and facilitates the transfer of title to these wonderful campers.
