Pammel State Park

Just spent the last weekend with a great group of friends @ Pammel State Park in Winterset, Iowa. (http://www.madisoncountyparks.org/) The park is, I believe, one of the first state parks in Iowa. Winterset host claim to Iowa's most Covered Bridges and the movie Bridges of Madison County wss filmed there.

Also nearby, for Veteran's, is Freedom Rock (http://thefreedomrock.com/) This is a rock that is painted every year in honor of our veteran's. It is very well done.

It is a nice park. Got some good pics of teardrops driving over the ford & through the tunnel.

Park has a homey feel to it, as the camping area we were in is small & the campground hosts were very friendly.

Bridges were fun! Don't forget John Wayne! Winterset is his birthplace!

Winterset's annual BBQ on the Square was held this past weekend, too. Had some very tasty food! Yum!

Good fun, good food, good friends...what more could you ask for?
