replacing Shore Power Connector

I am in the process of replacing the shore power socket on our 550, after its ground pin detached unexpectedly. It seems like a straightforward fix: get into the battery compartment, remove the battery to gain access to the connector, unscrew the old one, remove it, and wire up the new one (which is a spare part available at the Camp-Inn Online Store).

I can get into the battery compartment (see photo, the connector location is shown by the orange lines and the "unscrew" direction is indicated by the blue arrow) But I can't get enough purchase to turn the large ring nut that clamps the connector in place. I have a note out to the folks at the Nest, but would like your suggestions as well.

Thanks!

I'll be interested to see what the nest has to say...if you can turn the nut, turn the connector. I'm following out of curisoity myself, as the rubber flap on mine has been left unplugged on a trip or two making that plastic a bit weak, eventually it will fall off and I'll be doing what you are doing...

Several times, I've had to remove fasteners like this and coulnd't. But I have been able to get enough 'finger hold' on it to allow me to twist the connector from the other side.
