I’m surely not alone with running out of space in the front storage cubby. I’ve been thinking long and hard about more storage upfront but the gas cylinder is in the way. Looked at large trailer tongue storage boxes but couldn’t find one that a) was narrow enough and fit a gas cylinder b) was light weight and c) didn’t look ugly. I looked at all kinds of boxes and eventually here’s what I came up with:

It works well for the dirty stuff: the chocks, plates for under the rear jacks, the ever-so-dirty hitch coupler lock and a few other things.
The boxes are .30 Plano Field boxes available on Amazon: Amazon.com: Plano Field Ammo Box .30 : Sports & Outdoors
Supports are 3/4” square aluminum rods, bolted to the frame. Boxes are bolted with big washers to the aluminum rods.
Now I have room in the cubby. And I added some magnets so the hammer is very easy to grab, the grill brush is kept away from everything and the grill fork/marsh mellow stick is hidden on the cubby ceiling.

For those paying attention to each and every detail: there will be another post on my trailer jack journey but one hint: I have finally succeeded!
