Good day today! Got the Raindrop hitched up to the Cherokee and drove around the neighborhood. Our 'hood is very hilly, so this was a test for the little 4 cylinder Jeep with no tow package. And we did well! We could go and we could stop without any angst. Don't even have the brake controller installed yet, so the stopping was all on the Jeep.
Was watching the transmission temp. It got as high as 176 and tended to stay there if we were climbing. As soon as things leveled out or went downhill the temp dropped to 170.
This was a very short foray, maybe ten miles. But it allayed some of my concern over whether the Jeep could comfortably handle the 560. And I think it can.
We'll take the GMC 1500 if we want to car-top the Hobie Tandem Mirage along with the 560. Without the boat I think the Cherokee will do just fine.
And we've got to name our trailer, even though I'm typically against naming my toys, including the various boats that have passed in and out of our lives. It's just so much easier to talk about bringing, "Toby," or, "The Silver Streak," on a trip.
