Tire Recommendations

Hello Community! We just acquired #1010, a 2020 560 Ultra. We do not have a lot of confidence in the tires (the trailer was stored outside) and are looking for some tire recommendations. We have the Aluminum Alloy rims.

I replaced mine about a year ago. I spoke with Cary and we looked at tires together online. These are what I bought after he said they would be fine and were representative of what they use. I don't believe they use the exact same tire every time but you can speak with him if you want to confirm.

Hi Allen! welcome! I'm sure the community can tell you Tyre types but also be intouch with Cary, at campinn's mothership. He can tell you all the regulation stuff as well. Happy campinn!

Do you ahve the "SUV"?

I just found myself looking at my tires thinking it might be time --- they aren't aged out, the tread is getting a little thin for my comfort.

For me one if those 'went into the Mothership for one thing and got 4 other things, including new tires', that I never thought of. Oh, I was getting the fan replaced. Turns out, I also got new tires and a few other things that Chris and Craig said we're pretty sketchy. Turns out the galley hatch needed something , I walked by a work table in the factory and there is my hatch getting some work. But it was so out of place to see it there. You see something familiar but in the wrong place and go...huh?

I will - There's enough tread though I'm goin to buy a set in March - just before camping season. That way I'm not burning 6 months of the 5 year life span just sitting in the garage.

My question about SUV was more lack of coffee..I just needed to look at my tire size :) ST250/75R14 thats really all you need to know.

You're right though --- seeing something out of context does give you that moment of "huh?"

Tire size. Got it. Understand about tires aging out. Was really curious about brands. We’re looking at Carlisle Radial Trail HD vs. Goodyear Endurance. There is a big enough difference between the price on these two… just made me wonder if all you experienced folks have a brand preference.

Personally I wouldn't pay a premium for a name brand tire.

There are two things people focus on when buying automotive tires. Mileage and comfort. Neither of those are important in buying trailer tires. Your trailer tires will likely age out before the mileage matters and nobody will ever be riding inside the trailer so comfort hardly matters either.

So now you have load and speed rating to look at. By all means don't exceed either but beyond that what makes one brand worth two or three times the price of many others? While I wouldn't buy the cheapest brand nobody ever heard of, I'm fine with a popular trailer brand that is rated as well as the tires that originally came on my 560. That's what I ended up buying.

Yup… The Carlisle Radial Trail HD seem to rate decently. I’m leaning that way.

There are many trailer tire brands made overseas that have questionable quality, but Carlisle does seem to be better than most. We ran them on our Escape 21C for 4 1/2 years without issue. But I check the tire pressures every travel day. I am a firm believer in balancing your trailer tires during installation. Some tire installation shops don’t balance trailer tires unless requested.

Great point. Make sure to have the tires balanced because that is not normal for trailer tires and we find it makes a big difference. Camp-Inns always come from the factory balanced. Interesting side note. Our Road Toad campers use off the shelf wheel/tire combos that come already mounted and ready to mount on the trailer. But, they are not balanced. We used them like that for awhile but found how bad running out of balance tires on a trailer can be. We now balance these prefab wheel/tire combos also.

Did your new tires come with a metal wheel or just the tire? If just the tire, did you need to take them to a shop to have the old tires removed from the wheels and the new ones put on? Are the wheels made to last decades or are they considered disposable with the used tires?

I bought the tires only from Walmart. They delivered them to my house. I took the wheels (alloy) off my 560 and took them one at a time to Walmart to have the new tires installed. Very easy process.

If you want Walmart to install them for you be aware you must buy the tires from Walmart. They can be delivered to your house or the store. Don't remember what I paid for installation but it was very reasonable (including balancing).
