Tour 931

Ranger
I leave for Virginia on the 19th arriving on the 21st and staying one week. I will be traveling with four women age 82 to 99. I’ll pull the 560 and sleep in it while the four women stay in a motel. The 560 which the girls call “the teapot” will also haul our luggage.

The 99 year old that I call mom is actually the best traveler. She doesn’t need many bathroom breaks and can read maps. She is the dedicated navigator. Then her daughter and my adopted sister will be chief planner and will call ahead for a motel when it gets time. One way it’s 1,200 miles and we have three days to do it. Where we stop nobody knows.

As I said I’ll be pulling the 560 with the Ford Transit which is a seven passenger limo conversion. It was four captain seats and on bench in the back that folds down to a bed.

T-minus five days. Today I start packing. The girls tell me they are already packed. This will be the first trip with two of the women. I drove to Florida and another trip to Texas with the 99 year old. I say she is 99 going on 16 because she acts more like a teenager.

It’s currently 18F and we received a skiff of overnight snow. On Wednesday the forecast is for nine inches of snow. We may leave Tuesday afternoon to beat the snow and stay at my sister’s house just south of Madison. I’m hoping the o-rings can take the cold and snow.

This picture was taken 20 minutes before sunrise. The trailer is normally in the garage but it was towed to the launch pad a few days ago.

I found my second set of keys! This set has the hitch lock key on it. My cabin/galley only set is on a short shoe lace that I tie on a belt loop and slip the keys into my pocket. That way they are always tethered to me.
