NS Cape Breton Highlands Np

KathyBob

Junior Ranger
Two nights at the Cheticamp Campground. When we arrived (a Saturday and we hadn't made reservations) the only spot available was on a large grassy field and we felt like we were at a Boy Scout Jamboree! We were very close to the washroom/shower and within walking distance to the Welcome/Information Center. Most of the campers around us were in tents. There were camper sinks available at both of the washroom buildings near our campsite.

The campground had a campfire program one night and the two rangers served us hot chocolate. All conversation was translated to English and French. We spent the whole day between the two nights driving around the Park on the Cabot Trail. Cape Breton is amazing. It has a very strong Celtic influence. The Celtic Music Interpretive Center is in Judique; we had a wonderful lunch and listened to a fiddler and pianist.

Note: a daily park fee is paid in addition to the camping fee.
