Extra Cabin Outlets

We had been craving a way to avoid all the wires dangling about when we would need to use/charge various electrical and electronic devices and finally have worked out a solution that we are very pleased with and might work for others.

This was fairly simple: we bought a 9' extension cord from Home Depot that had a flat plug and three outlets. We just routed the cord as far as possible along the edge of the floor toward the front of the camper. It ends just below the first cabinet door on the curbside of the camper (the cabinets just above the pass-thru). Then we plugged our Sunbeam dual control heated mattress pad into one plug, and our Chromebook and Laptop into the other two plugs.

We can stuff the laptop/Chromebook power supplies beside the mattress below the cabin lights, and the power cords can be stuffed beside the mattress along the door frame. On the rear of the door opening we've placed Command cord clips, where we hang the end plugs of the power cables. With this arrangement we can slip the laptop/Chromebook beside the mattress in that same area, where it can be charging when not in use. Or we can use either device while charging by simply pulling up enough cable to reach where we are sitting.

The only trouble we had with this setup was the tangle of wires under the mattress, which created some issues whenever we needed to remove and replace the mattress. Our solution was to get some self adhesive cable ties to calm down the clutter.

The following are some pictures of our installation. I was trying to find an easier way of getting a lot of pictures on this forum. This was easier, but it only provides links to individual photos. Not what I wanted, but I've run out of gas on this topic...

We ziptied part of the cord to the electric brake wires, and added cable tie mounts to attach it elsewhere.

We used a couple of mounts to hold the outlet end of the extension cord vertical (fortunately, this extension cord has a handy loop at the end). The top would extend a short amount above the factory mattress, but with our HyperVent pad it was pretty much even with the top of the mattress. But it is hidden behind a pillow, so that really doesn't matter.

We ziptied the extra lengths of pad wires, then used simple twist ties to also attach them to cable mounts. We did this because it is likely that we might need to remove these from time to time (more likely than having to remove the extension cord).

We only continued this past the door opening, so that we have plenty of cord length to allow us to unplug the mattress pad when we remove the mattress from the camper.

We routed the power supply cables behind the mattress pad cables, zip tied the extra cable to the power supplies and rested the power supply on the extension cord (or mattress cord on the opposite side of the cabin). This helps to keep the power supply off the floor, just in case water gets into the cabin.
