NC National Forest Mount Pisgah

  1. This campground is on the Blue Ridge Parkway at Milepost 408 and just across the Mt. Pisgah Inn which has a very good restraunt (try the trout if you go). Go over to the Inn to see the views if nothing else. There is a store there also. With a teardrop you will be on Loop A or B. Loop A allows generators but we camped there and there was only one being used. It was very quiet for us. No electricity but our solar panel worked for us to keep the battery charged.

The bathrooms are centrally located on each loop and water is spaced throughout the loop. The sites have a picnic table, lantern post and even the sites are close together you can have a lot of privacy as the understory here is dense. We were in a pull through site but there are a lot of backin sites with a double wide driveway so your car and camper end up side by side. We were in A12 which had a small grassy area where could use our side tent. The sites have concrete curbing all the way around if you have a back in site. Showers are on Loop B.

Nearby is Asheville which has great food, beer, arts and the Biltmore Estate. Brevard is smaller but has lots of fun activities also, cycling, hiking, Cradle of Forestry. Folk Art center on Blue Ridge Parkway at Milepost 382, BRP Visitors Center at Milepost 380. There are several rivers nearby for fishing, paddling. Try Sliding Rock for a cool dip with a fast ride to get there. You are close to the Great Smokies NP , Cherokee Indian Reservation. The views from the Parkway are amazing. Try Craggy Gardens in June for the rhododendron or in the fall for great views with fall color.
