This is a recipe I got from a church cookbook:

    2 lbs. beef stew meat
2 cans cream of mushroom soup
2 pkgs. dry French Onion Soup Mix

Put all ingredients in a DO, stir and place in 350 deg. oven or over coals for 2 hrs. or until fork tender. NO PEEKIN' ! When it comes off you can add sour cream for a stroganoff flavor, but I don't. I serve this over rice - or mashed potatoes work too! (I don't know why they call it stew, cause it's not!)

Welllllll....after an appropriate amount of time (taking into consideration that you're using a dutch oven that's heavy and will cook things quicker), ck. it out after a couple of hours. Don't ask ME why they call it "No Peekin' Beef Stew"! That's the title of the recipe! But it's a great dish!
