Let The Adventures Begin

Greetings to everyone.
I finally took delivery of my new Ultra 560 on October 14th. It was a looong wait… just over 10 months (yikes!). But patience has its rewards.
So I am now gathering my gear as I pick and choose the stuff I want to be part of my camper as I plan my traveling and camping experience.
I had hoped to be able to participate in the recent CICO weekend, but I did not have my Ultra 560 until 2 weeks later. Located just a short distance from the CICO event as I am located in Sturgeon Bay, WI, I will look forward to meeting many of you Camp-Inn owners next year. With any luck, perhaps I will come across some of you out and about on our travels.

Congrats on the new Camp Inn..... Sturgeon Bay and north (Ellison up to Gills) were always nice to visit when we lived over on that side of the state...being on the Mississippi now.... we don't get over there enough. We are heading to Porcupine Mountain camping this week end if I do it right , maybe I can take some time off and get to the Door on the way back.

A few of my favorite purchases:
- For cold-weather camping, consider some kind of mattress underlayment (to help prevent condensation under the mattress): HyperVent (or similar) or Froli. We've had HyperVent for several years now and it's performed well.
- For cold-weather camping off grid, a 12-vot mattress warmer is nice to have. We laid ours across the bottom of the mattress to warm our feet.
- A Sportbrella is a super-easy galley cover when you don't want to set up a canopy - the 8' is popular (fits across the galley when closed up) but I ordered the XL (9') by mistake and I really like the extra coverage. We take it on every trip.
- The Omni Stovetop Oven is a bit of a splurge (especially with all the accessories) but it's compact and there are so many recipes on-line. I got a candy thermometer that I can slide through one of the holes in the lid - with the adjustable clip, the probe tip sits in the center of the oven and does a good job of monitoring the cooking temp.

I agree with the Sportbrella comment and can confirm the effectiveness of the Hypervent.

It’s a beauty. Mine should be on the assembly line now. Best wishes for many years of happy wandering. Thank you for the picture!

How was the tow behind the Subaru? My setup will be nearly identical.

Welcome! Too bad you got yours just a salt season hits :( We pick up ours in a couple weeks...and I am totally jealous of you :)

10 months wait? Wow --- did you have something custom done?

Where's the first trip too? Anything in the works? I'm sure you can get some recommendations here if you need them :D

we tow with Subaru Outback it has been great hardly notice it behind us.

Same here...a '12 with the V6 --- Went from 27 to 21 mpg....and literally...you don't feel it.

Will be tying a Rav 4 Hybrid as well....I'm told Towing capacity there is only 2000 lbs, at least rated...but thats probably a little conservative. Saw 1 guy pulling a 2000lb cargo box up the hills in Cali with no problem....so I'm hoping flat landing here Midwest will be uneventful.

Let you know in 2-3 weeks :)

The Rav4 hybrid towing capacity is 1,750. I have one. It tows fine. The gas model is rated for 1,500.

What mpg do you get? Hav to admit to liking 42 :).

I’ve seen 2000lbs in tow….I have no doubt I’ll be fine especially considering ima 70 mph type. I see no reason to push beyond that…and squally, it’s slower when towing….

Mine's a 2017 but the towing capacity hasn't changed with the newer ones. The mileage however has improved with the newer ones. I get 31-32 when I'm not towing, 20-22 when towing. In my limited towing experience, I think the western US tilts up when going north and down when going south. The problem is, rollies never balance out and they're everywhere. I was hoping for better mileage. I probably need one of those snowboard spoilers like Slim Potatohead has. LoL!
