Time to wake up this area! It hasn't been updated in a while!!!
I just stayed at Versailles State Park -- that is pronounced Ver-syles or Ver-cyeles) not verysei as the french city
Just like Milan is pronounce "Mylan" into meyelan.
I must admit that I had it wrong. The first time we stayed there we had a small spot, on a curve, with uneven ground an a tiny spot. It did not leave a good taste in my mouth. This time, I was not with a gathering, so I could pick my own spot...and boy did I have it wrong. The sites are large, the grass green, and the skys clear --- very dark sides! Saw lots of stars, and had a really good weekend.
Nearby is the town of Milan. This town is of interest, as it is the town made famous by basketball. Specifically, a movie about basketball. Even more specific, the Gene Hackman movie "Hoosiers" tells the story of the 1954 state championship, where Milan was the underdog that took it all the way. I'm not a basketball fan, but the movie is enjoyable regardless.
If you're looking for lush grass, starry skies, and a little peace and quiet, this might just be the ticket. Of course, every weekend is different when it comes to crowds, but this one, I was impressed.
