FL Mike Roess Goldhead Branch State Park

Mike Roess Goldhead Branch State Park is located between Gainesville and Jacksonville, FL. It is comprised of 600 acres and was built by the CCC in the 1930s. It offers birding, fishing, geocaching, swimming, and hiking trails.
There are 73 campsites divided into three sections (Sandhill, Turkey, Lakeview). All campsites have water and electricity. Each loop has a bathhouse with showers. The Turkey loop is the most shaded of the three loops, but will be temporarily closed in November 2025 for a bathhouse renovation.
Being an older State Park; it is not widely attended as many are in Florida. It is also one of the better parks for star gazing at night. Being in a rural area, there is an abundance of nature in the area. Definitely worth a visit if you’re looking to relax and enjoy what little is left of Old Florida.

Lovely. Florida parks have a nice feel to them. That model of the CCC reaches back to another time. Thanks
