Wonder how we got this scratch? Just below the galley and to the right of the license plate. Was not there when we left Upstate SC, but 243 miles later it was there when arrived at the SC coast.

I have a similar looking one on the left side above the all the connectors. Been there a few years and I never figured out how it got there. I'm just guessing that somehow, in the garage, I must have bumped something along the side without ever realizing it. Mysterious things do seem to happen the older I get.

This had to have happened while we drove. We only stopped twice. Once for lunch and we are at the far edge of the parking lot. Mary Ellen stayed there with it because we have the dog with us. The other stop was at a park and we were the only people there. Neither time were either of us at the back of the camper.

Is it possible that it was the result of some road debris? Maybe after bouncing off the bumper? I’ve seen debris take a strange path after coming off a tire.

After I posted that last night I remembered something from the drive down . I had to straddle some road debris or at least I tried to. As we passed over it, I heard something hit, but assumed it was just underneath the car or camper that it hit. That ha to be it.

This is very true --- some one got very agressive when cleaning a spot on my camper --- a 2 inch spot scuffed by a "soft" scrubby pad that was harder than aluminum. Its all but disappeared after a couple years...but it was 'gone' by the first fall (this happened in the spring)
Its hard to admit, but these are aluminum not titanium. Its a very soft metal, and its going to get its share of bumps and bruises --- each one has to become part of the story, or it will drive you insane. I do not know how people that own airstreams can tollerate it - their goal is "new" look forever. Honestly, its unacheivable.

I was looking for an answer for what grade aliminum and found a good thread on "patina" which is my preference over shiny.
Once you get to that aged look you could use some good marine wax to help avoid bird poop, winter road mineral sprays and road tar doing too much damage until you get back from trip and clean it off.
Every nick and scratch has a story.

Here's our 2001. I posted this awhile back on another thread. It has never been cleaned with anything other than dish soap & water. A good portion of it's life has been outside, including some winter time. It has over 60,000 miles on it that we can account for, including a trip to Alaska, 4 trips to Utah, 3 trips to Florida, 2 back to New...

Mine is terrible but you don’t notice because you are looking at all the decals.

Just washed the camper and you can hardly see the scratch now. Shady Grady photo bombing me. We hang out behind the camper in the carport at home.
Look under the chair. Grady is glued to me today because we were gone for a week. He showed up here a year ago. People who adopted out of the shelter wouldn’t call the vet back when they contacted him. He’s chipped and fixed, so we kept him. Made up for all the strays we’ve taken over the years that we paid to reduce the cat population by getting them fixed. lol
The sticker over the plate is my daughter’s cat, Rosie the Tiny Terror.
