Morning Cup Of Coffee And Weather

That was my big takeaway --- I don't care who you work for --- you're one managers phobia away from unemployment. Self employment, big risks. Lots of pitfalls. Lots of work. But, many bosses (customers) --- if one fires me --- the odds are in my favor. Though someitmes things like injuries and unexpected "oh $#i7 seconds" can happen.

Mixed bag.
The odds would be a lot more in your favor if you quit skydiving off the RV steps. At least wear a chute… ;)

Anyone camping in a Dark Skies place now?

It was too cloudy last night to see the eclipse and red moon. I get to see the northern lights about once a month.

Gonna be hot this week. Long days for me because I’ll have to wait until the evening to practice my cross country team. On the bright side, next Sunday’s forecast in Darlington, SC for the NASCAR race looks good with highs only in the upper 80s. In the Sandhills of SC, that’s a cool spell.

Why not when we're up in Wisconsin! Lets hope so! I've never seen the aurora - earlier in the summer, and last year, we went out when it was supposedly happening here but by the time we got to the place reported, the event subsided. Cameras might have caught it, but ours were too old...just got a new phone in the spring, hopefully it does better.

That last lap at Daytona Saturday night was crazy!
It was crazy. One of students was there. It was his first at the Daytona track & he got a lot of photos with drivers.

Looking forward to being there in about 18 months for the Daytona 500. We’ve been to the track before and toured the facility plus my daughter and I both did ride along rides. That’s a unique perspective sitting in a car going that fast.

Secrets of the Southwest Episode 1 is good, " the great circle route", Route 66, red rock country...

Hey I’m watching Secrets of the National Parks. Check it out now on Prime Video!
Watch Secrets of the National Parks | Prime Video

You know, I've got a prime video - I don't know why I don't use it more often. This looks like a beautiful series -- just the hero images make me want to hop in the car. Though, right now, I"m feeling like doing that anyway. Every once in a while I get this feeling I had when I was 5 -- where I decided I wanted to run away and join the circus. I made it to under the bush in the neighbors front yard with my life savings of 27 cents and a peanut butter sandwich. I was set.

For some reason that evening my parents decided to eat a meal on the front porch that was according to the yummy sounds the best ever.

What to do?! What to do?! I've been a bit absent recently -- just a lot going on and I miss having the time to play in this campground. I've had the opporutnity to get out into a real campground just a few times the summer. Far far less than I wish.

Its now time for retrospective. That may be changing. Certainly the looming October drop off is coming -- if it isn't here already. My call volume as down significantly, and I think its time to assess. My heart has already made its intentions known...I just need to tell the wallet and mind.

I think $50 a night fees plus $3.89 a gallon for gasoline has made people stay home, repair less. I can make a reservation fairly easily -- there are 56 sites available at brown county this weekend. FAR less than even 2018 when you'd reserve weeks in advance...let along 2021 where it was 6 months out.

I share too much - just know if you see me at CICO - I'm probably thinking about this :D

Prices are definitely curbing my intended camping this year, especially the cost of diesel. CICO is a luxury I've been saving for, as is the time-off from work, my first for this year.
