    Locks

I found for the galley lock to raise the rear hatch and then spray silicone spray into the lock. Keep the hatch door up and spray every day for a few days. This lets the spray run down into the lock. If the doors are bad take the handle and lock off the door. Find a way to keep it vertical and...

Doug and Amber, We are planning a camping trip in the Hill Country of Texas late March to mid-April.. We are looking for a campground that has showers. We enjoy road bicycling so we are also looking for a campground that has access to the roads less traveled. Any suggestions would be...

    Adding A Second Battery

Steve and Alea As I read your post I understand that you are not getting any power to your charge pin, on your 7 pin connector on the tow vehicle. I had the same problem last year. On my car there is a charge wire running from the battery to the rear of the car. There is a wire coming off of...

    Camping in southern Illinois?

We ended up staying at Cave in Rock State Park. It was a lovely park with some hiking and road bicycling (across the state line into Kentucky via the free ferry) opportunities. We drove to nearby Garden of the Gods for a short hike to a beautiful vista.

    What Size Comforter/blanket?

Theresa, We do not pull the covers off of each other (& I Steve am the cover hog at home). We also have a twin comforter on top of the blanket. We have camped on some chilly nights (upper 20's low 30's) too.

    What Size Comforter/blanket?

We also use a twin sized Pendleton wool blanket which I think is the perfect size - just enough overhang to tuck in at the sides.

    Freezing Water?

Doug & Amber, We live in northern Michigan and like to camp in the shoulder seasons. Nothing like the camping in the fall in northern Michigan (although it is snowing tonight). We had concerns with the water system too, when it dipped below freezing. This was one of the questions that we had...

Receiver Hitch For 2016 Subaru Outback

We too have a 2015 Outback with the factory 1 1/4 inch hitch. We have towed almost 6,000 miles without a problem. Our Outback has the 2.5 engine. Subaru recommends electric brakes when towing over 1,000 pounds. I would agree with that recommendation.

    550 / 560 Big Dude -> Little Trailer

I am 6'1" and fit comfortably in our 550. I think though I am at the upper limit. I've been recommending that my 6'3" brother-in-law check out a 560.

    Camping in southern Illinois?

Hi Steve & Alea, Thanks for the information. We will check out those campgrounds out. This trip will eventually take us to Lexington, KY where we will bicycle "The Horsey Hundred" over Memorial Day weekend. Safe travels to you as you prepare to begin your 2016 route north.

    Camping in southern Illinois?

In May, we will be passing through southern Illinois (on our way to Kentucky) and we are wondering if anyone has a campground suggestion for an overnight stay with some hiking options? Thanks for your help!

    water pump

Wade and Nan, Sounds like the pump may not be getting power, possibly there is a loose or broken wire? Is everything else on the trailer getting (12V) power? If no there is a battery switch in the galley that should be on. Hope you find the problem easily.

    Bad Tow Vehicles?

Chuck and Martha, We hope you are enjoying your new Camp Inn. We too tow with a 2015 Outback 2.5 engine. we typically get the same mileage you did, however we almost always have kayaks or bikes on the roof of the Outback, which adds to the air drag. The one time I towed without anything on...

    Dometic, Yeti, or both?

We have both the Dometic and the 50 quart Yeti. Our tow vehicle does not have a hot 12 volt plug and if it did I would be concerned with a low battery, so we made the decision to keep the Dometic in the trailer. This allowed us to get the 50 quart Yeti, which stays in the tow vehicle, is a...

    Hello from Western Wisconsin!

Hi Joci and Jim, We enjoyed St. Joseph Peninsula State Park in Port St. Joeseph, which is in the panhandle about 50 miles east of Panama City. If you like miles of undeveloped beach and beautiful sunsets, I would suggest a few days here. We hope you enjoy your new trailer.

Is Subaru Outback 4 cylinder sufficient?

We pulled our new 550 home with a 2015 Outback with the 4 cylinder. It did fine. Revved into the 3000-3500 RPM range on some hills. With 2 bikes on top I got 22 MPG.
