Side Tent Side Tent - How To Secure On Pavement

I bought the Rubber Cal mats. They have a webstore through Amazon. Bought two of the 4x4 size, 1/4 inch thick. The one 4x4 is perfect for putting on the ground without needing to trim it down. The side tent when using stakes is the perfect width. The mat could be trimmed a bit shorter front...

Jaime did you ask Cary to see if there are any 560 owners close to you? If there are and it is partly a 'will we fit question' then if there is someone close by you might be able to do a size check before driving all the way to Necedah.

    Shredded/Broken Side Tent Top Pole

Ok. Got it fixed. Stansport makes a Tent Pole Repair Kit Part #749. 7mm in diameter. About $7. Bought one at Sportsmans Warehouse. Actually with the four sections that come in the kit I now have two complete tent top sets. My broken one was the standard 25 1/2inch piece. The overall all...

    Shredded/Broken Side Tent Top Pole

Ok so another lesson learned. While I had the side tent staked down the wind got pretty heavy last night and the tent came off the tent pegs and started moving around. Before I get it taken down the roof fibreglass pole broke and shredded. Looks like it is a 7mm diameter. Other than the...

New guy lesson learned - gravel and dirt roads

Re: Rock Tamer Vendors Oly Couldn't tell from the photos but it looks like the IBC has the hitch as part of the overall bar and not attachable. Also their height is only 16" which might work on something lower then my Yukon. At least there are choices out there.

    Green - Energy Effiecient electricity

Jenn Nice report. Evan, I can see your mind churning all the way here in Colorado. Hmmm...so how big would it need to be to charge my 3 nuclear size batteries???? I think I'll drive over to Home Depot and see what I can find that would work. :)

Overnite in Rocky Mountain National Park

Oly, it's the glow of the wood burning fireplace upgrade. Goes well with the fully extendable/retractable hot tub installation... But seriously I have a remote strobe inside with a gel on it being triggered from the camera. Make sure you make reservations if you come up during...

New guy lesson learned - gravel and dirt roads

A quick update. Had a trip last night up into Rocky Mountain NP with a mix of dirt roads, snow and rain. The Rock Tamers really cut down on the amount of road debris and sludge hitting the front of the CI.

Overnite in Rocky Mountain National Park

Another case of cabin fever and I decided to try an overnite up in the mountains. First thought was to try the town of Lyons. They have a nice park and it would have been fun to wander around in town this morning. But the park was locked up tight. So fall back was to head up into Rocky...

    Florida Parks

Take a look at AllStays. I just looked and there must be 20-30 campgrounds from Key Largo to the tip including at least 3 state parks. And rates as you say sound "Crazy" as Crazy Eddy used to say. But probably no worse than if you looked at hotel rates. The free market at work...but really...

    Cabin Fever

Sarah When I looked at that picture I thought that the edge of the rain cap had blown up in the wind. Yep the black thing is the vent fan cover. With the new fan you can open it manually to any amount so unless it was a driving rain it could be open and operational. There is also a series of...

    Cabin Fever

Jenn Yes we have less moisture but still get frost if the temp/dewpoint spread is in the right range. Just feels 'warmer' since you get more 'radiant' solar warming. Don't know the science but more infrared rays due to less atmosphere??? That's why you see lots of crazy folks in shorts in...

    Cabin Fever

Sarah Yes you see the rainfly. Easier to shake due off of it than the tent and with the side window open for venting of condensation I found that for some reason the main tent top stays drier with the rain fly up. This morning the truck and back table were covered with water. So was the fly...

    Cabin Fever

Jenn Last night was a low of about 25. Still having a challenge with the furnace that Cary is working on. So I would run the furnace for awhile. It shuts off and then about 3 hours or so later would realize it was getting a bit cold and do another cycle. Not a big deal and couple of...

    Cabin Fever

So got a bit of cabin fever and decided to take the Ci out last night to the Colorado State Campground about 30 minutes north. St Vrain State Park is located in a bunch of man made lakes from old gravel mining, probably when they were building I25. The sites are HUGE. probably a good 50 feet...
