    Moving The Trailer By Hand

The trick with a lip is to avoid hitting it square. Angle the trailer just enough so that each tire hits the lip separately. (I realize with a *really* tight opening that could be difficult, but usually it works.)

    Fridge / Cooler Coleman Cozy

YES. Have had and used for three years. Gets washed in the machine a couple times each year. Ours is starting to wear - zipper jumps the track if you're not careful. Will immediately buy another if/when it becomes unusable.

First Time Caller, Long Time Listener

That seems pricey for the wire job. FWIW, it's not beyond the ability of a mildly competent DIYer. If you search through the forum, you will see that Cary notes that the number one problem they see on new owners' tow vehicles is a botched wiring job, even those done by alleged professionals. Our...

    First Excursion

Nice to hear that I'm not the only one annoyed by the how-much-does-it-cost question. But since when was the base price 8K? We saved for a long time, but for some reason feel sheepish stating what we paid, thinking it sounds like a lot of dough, especially considering the prices you see in the...

    Non-electric Slow Cooker

The wonderbag is really fascinating, and moving up rapidly on our "wanna get" list. The Adorable Wife's been looking for a good way to make asian style simple sticky rice, e.g., Calrose, without having to bring a rice cooker and the wonderbag looks like it may be just the ticket. A little...

All stays Camp & RV app

+1 for AllStays. A bargain at twice the price. For me, it works best on a tablet, the phone view is a little cramped, though still very usable. It's free to use on a PC, although the interface is less effective. "Friend" AllStays on Facebook for latest alerts, like the heinous practice of...

Antibiotic Gel Prevents Tick Bite Lymes Disease Infection

This is really encouraging news. Thanks for posting. I did just a little bit of googling and was unable to find any obvious source for azithromycin gel or ointment. There's a preparation called "AsaSite" that's used to treat pinkeye and requires a prescription. I'm going to ask my doc about it...

Windows The Solution To Condensation Drain Issues

Anyone by chance have a picture of the window drain after the original plastic covers have been removed but before installation of the alternative caps? I'm curious what the drain holes look like, but can't eyeball it without taking off the original and I understand that removing it breaks the...

    550 / 560 Galley Hatch Lift?

That's slick enough that Craig and Cary should consider offering it as part of the handicapped package. I know that for me the hatch has gotten a LOT heavier since I broke my wrist last fall. That injury also had me wishing we had ordered the interior grab bars. Wrist injury made the usual...

    Weight Distribution Dynamics

Nice video showing the effects of weight distribution on a trailer. The TV is not actually pulling the trailer in the video; not sure what difference, if any, that makes. But, it nicely illustrates my rule: Load up that front storage box!

    Design Change Question and Poll

Never say never, I guess. We drove through a couple of fast-moving, but heavy downbursts on I-70 heading west into Colorado a couple of months ago and, the next morning, found a rag in the bottom of the right-hand bin that was wet. Couldn't have been much water, maybe a half-liter. First time...

I Can't Take This Camper Anywhere...

In transit, I always carry a wad of brochures in the driver's door pocket of the TV. As I see a lookie-lou approach, I thrust one into their hand and say: "You should check out the website!" As they look down at the brochure in their hand, I say, "have a great day," and head out. At a...

    Lots of opinions on Canopies

We have the NB screenhouse for colder weather, and, for our first two-and-a-half seasons, used a Coleman 13 x 13 instant canopy for warmer weather...

    Direct Access To Under-counter Storage

"Officially," the current millennium started Jan 1, 2001, at 0000 hours. But then none of us are officials, thank goodness, so what the heck. First grandchild starts college this month; most recent grandchild just started size 3 Pampers. Like Billy Pilgram, we have become unstuck in time. Hope...

Binder City Campground At Binder State Park

Nice. Thanks for the tip. Definitely within our range. The blurb on AllStays has this mildly cryptic note: "pet friendly extra rules." Any notion what that means?

    Direct Access To Under-counter Storage

The original prototype, #0000, which Craig and Betsey took to the Grand Canyon in the last millenium, had one big drawer that pulled out from under the counter. You can see pictures of it on the Camp Inn Facebook page: Camp-Inn Travel Trailers - Photos | Facebook The photo captions in the...

    Adjusting Brakes

I did the first brake adjustment after the trip home from Necedah a couple of years ago, as suggested in the manual. But, recently, when I went to do it the second time, at the 9,000-mile mark, it didn't go nearly as smoothly as the first time. However, the answer to the question I initially...

    Ice Blocks for Cooler

Forget where I read it, but FWIW, water is a better insulator than air. So a beer stays cold longer in a cooler surrounded by cold water than by cold air, everything else being equal. Of course, lots of stuff gets yucky if it wallows in the cold water that pools at the bottom of an ice-chilled...

    Cleaning Window Screens

FWIW on removal of the bin lids . . . When Toad Away was brand new, I took off the bin lids just tinkering around, seeing how everything worked. (Marty had showed me the little tabs on the hinges during our orientation, but didn't actually pull them off..) I spent at least an hour in growing...
