I just had to replace the battery after a little more than one year of use. We use a Dometic fridge and it has run down to the shutoff point several times but it sure doesn't seem like it should be enough to ruin the battery. When it was replaced it would only run the fridge for a couple hours...

The only problem is that you need WiFi. Even in the rare time when I am camping somewhere that has wifi, it doesn't penetrate that Faraday cage of an aluminum camper well enough to use it.

I second the skip the AC and get the SUV option post. SUV setup should be the standard setup. Low should be the option -- for dwarves. I live in L.A. and got the AC but I haven't used it yet and only expect to if I am traveling in very hot places in the summer. Would not get it if I did it...

Regarding the brakes, I think you just need to have them if the state you register the vehicle in has that law. It doesn't mean you can't drive through those states if yours does not require it. That said, I like having the brakes anyway but it matters more the smaller your car is.

One other thing about the Alcove that should be mentioned is the shade quality. After spending a hot weekend in the sun, I found that it was still hotter under the Alcove than it was under a more opaque pop-up. A lot of sun still penetrates through the Alcove fabric.

I'm not understanding this. If you buy a panel with a controller, why do you need anything built in to the trailer? Can't you just plug it into a 12V outlet on the trailer or to the battery itself?
