    Itinerary Tear Days Of Summer

OK y'all in the Southeast. Wake up! Hilditch

    Griddle

George, Susan thanks you for the compliment. She is the one that keeps it clean. I'm just the cook. As for discoloration, that was referred to in my “100 nights” post. My french toast, pancakes, scones and grilled sandwiches don’t splatter. Bacon & other meats go in the 12” Lodge (More...

    Griddle

Why didn't I think of that -before? The Griswold ci griddle fits perfectly on the CI stove. Now we can cook all the french toast at once while the bacon stays hot on the warming shelf. Hilditch

    Itinerary Tear Days Of Summer

Tear Days of Summer 2012 In honor of Karen from Alabama’s great idea and well orchestrated multi-state gathering of teardrops at Cloudland Canyon, GA in 2010, the tradition will continue again this year back at Cloudland Canyon the weekend of July 26th thru 29th in the West campground...

    Camp-Inn Sheets

For those normal folks that like to sleep between two sheets that fit the bed correctly; here is the answer. With a 1” topper of choice (2” will probably work) the bottom fitted sheet goes on easily and the elastic all around it keeps it snug and in place on the Camp-Inn mattress. Without...

Electric Brakes Electric Brakes: Yes Or No?

Yes. We did not get them and the Tacoma handled it just fine. Then we switched TV. The brakes on the Ford are fine for the Ford, but not the tear too. Most cars are designed that way. Now I have to drive 1/4 mile more ahead than I used to drive. Good panic stops are no longer an option and...

    Cast Iron Addiction

Sue, there is a huge difference between a $5 no name and a $150 to $500 correct matching set of Griswold waffle irons. It's similar to comparing a 3 yo 1st try homebuilt to a new CI. Good luck. Hilditch PS: It does take a couple of hundred waffels to get a Griswold seasoned right, and...

    Regulator

The port and stove are regulated at the tank with a high pressure regulator (20 lbs) unless CI changed it. It would probably be best to put a RA328 low pressure regulator in line to the heater outside the port to keep the port active for other things like a remote burner or oven. Hilditch

    Woody Update

It's like using Ivory on a baby's butt. I use it on the Ford too.

    Rain Gear

Charlie, Are you talking about a 12' x 12' slant leg which is really a 10' x 10' canopy? This is what a 12' x 12' straight leg EZ-UP looks like when it rains. Hilditch

    Woody Update

Maybe not so much from the dark side. I've recently noticed after all the refinishing we did how much our tear resembles a 1963 Airstream Bambi down the road from us - which hasn't been polished in 9 years. However, remember what Hilditch said a long time ago; "If you like the way it looks...

    Hatch Leaks

aj, you read wrong. This works. Start putting uck-n-yuck in the corners and you may very well divert the water the wrong way. Try it. Hilditch

    Hatch Leaks

Stelena, there is no way anybody could visualize what I did without seeing or hearing about it, and a pic won't help. There is a better way to do this than what I did but I'm waiting for it to be discovered and shared. I took a rubber garden hose washer and cut it into thirds. I put one...

    Hatch Leaks

Cary vehemently denies that if my hatch is off center that it will cause leaking. When the hatch is off center water leaks into the top shelves when the hatch is closed as well as open. Sometimes lots of it. HOWEVER, when my hatch is centered with spacers on either side of the hinge to...

    Hitch mount on GMC Yukon

CI does not like to talk ground clearance for some reason. The water tanks on my ’08 are the lowest point on the tear with the SUV option. With the SUV option most of the height increase comes from larger tires. If my tear rides level there is 13” of ground clearance and if it rides with the...

    Woody Wax

I'm beginning to understand. For every 30' Airstream they end up with two tears and a pony trailer. Unfortunately the protective coating that comes from Alcoa for the Airstreams gets washed off in the process. Hilditch

    Cooler Security

Alan, I must disagree even though I have a highly cynical regard for opinions from wannabes and those with 3 nights of experience. (I do appreciate you confirming your experience status here. I wish others would realize that fact.) This may not stop a bear or a stupid teenager. However it...

    Cooler Security

We keep our Sub-Zero cooler on the side table. (See: Cooler latch issue in Care & Maintenance.) When absent or at night I wrap a 1" nylon tie down strap around the cooler securing it to the table and then put the cooler cover over the cooler. Thus far this has upset one 40# raccoon that got...

    Use in Winter

Sure do wish someone at CI would have given us that car wash warning when we picked up our tear. That and a coat of wax would have been an attitude changer and saved a whole lot of work. Which reminds me: Evan, we are waiting to hear the rest of your Walbernize story and about your new TV...

    Propane Tanks

I had a woman at a propane distributor quote me $65 for a new valve for my tank if I came back the next day at 8:00 AM only, while I was on the road. Yea, well...... Northern Tool (& probably Harbor Freight) sells a new 11# tank for about $35. I think they are full. One can get 14 meals...
