$500 breakaway cable

Well, I can attest to the value of the breakaway cable. On a recent trip going over a cattle guard at 70 mph trailer came loose and sparks were flying. All ok brakes set tongue ground down a little and needed to replace plug on trailer.

Must say it got my attention.

No damage to trailer. So for any of you contemplating whether to get trailer brakes, I might of helped you to your decision.
 
After reading these posts one of the things on my list for next time I hitch up is to check the length of the break away cable to make sure it is short enough to break away with the chains hooked up. Thanks for the reminder. I just don't remember how long mine is.
