ABOUT CAMPINN CAMPERS

I suggest you shop around and compare CI with other manufacturers. But don't take 2 years to decide. We did and wish we'd bought our teardrop and not lost that camping time. The construction at CI is craftsman-like to put it mildly. Everything has it place and the design reminds me of a well-made sailing ship. It is well thought-out and put together with pride. It pulls like a dream behind our Eurovan Westfalia. If there is any drawback, it's the fact that wherever you go expect to conduct tours. It looks that good inside and out. Look closely at the features offered by Camp Inn before shopping around. We found there was no comparison. Others were tinny and not anywhere near the quality, nor as well planned in design. The folks in Necedah WI know teardrops and are very helpful upfront and informative after purchase. We've taken Tina (we named our teardrop Tina) to Death Valley, the Sierra Nevada Mtns. at 8500 ft, the foothills of California, the north & south coast in California and haven't met weather that Tina couldn't handle. Hope to travel to Bryce & Zion in mid-September. Again our advice- don't dither. Compare and see if you agree with the rest of the CI teardrop owners. Whatever you decide, hope to meet you on the road.

What she said. I'm the cheapest bastage you'll ever meet. I will think about what pair of shoes to buy for days, and then suffer buyers regret for days. I've never once regretted our ultra 560.

When you compare think long term...how will that pressed board hold up. Ours after 2 full years and about 35 nights still looks like new. I can't wait for the 14 we've got scheduled :)

I pull it with a jeep liberty, and usually forget it's even there. Just be sure to add the electric brakes....you really don't need them, but I tell that to everyone regardless of the size of the tow vehicle.

hello everyone. I am new to this. I will be retiring in about two years. I have been studying these teardrop campers and believe like you all that they are worth the extra cost over other brands. my question for anyone is if they could tell me some general thoughts on traveling with one of these to see various parts of the country. how easy is it to find places to stop for a night? Can you just stop overnight at a truck stop? also, are there items that you recommend one purchase that are not offered as an accessory that you have found make a trip more enjoyable? if so, what is a good on-line place to find those items. Thank you everyone.

There are better web sites than here specifically about roadside stops for the night. Personally, we aim for state parks, I just feel safer knowing that I don't have transient people able to walk up when I'm asleep....I know it's a false sense because everyone in a state park is transient as I am, but it's somehow different to me.

Where can you go? Just about everywhere :). When I'm pulling mine I actually forget it's there...just buy the brakes, you'll never regret having them.

The only tough pull I've had was up the hills in Virginia on my way to Raleigh. I was fine, there was just no way I could hold the 75 mph speed...my tow vehicle has a small Diesel engine, and all my grunt is low end.

Accessories? Hmm....dometic cf35 cooler is awesome, it is a campinn option. If you have time, watch your local camping world. Ours runs a super sale about once a year selling for a lot less :)

LED puck lights in the storage bins make life easier, as does a good tent to go over the trailer or gally when shade trees are not available. I love my paha que 12x12.

The best non-accessory is a good Chardonnay or bottle of your favorite beverage :).

You'll find all kinds of things you think you'll need, but there isn't much you REALLY need. Although, my junk box is always about to explode because of over stuffed "necessities".

We love ours, and am getting really frustrated because weather and commitments havnt allowed us to get out this year yet....I'm getting the shakes.

cbob,

What items to purchases?
Each owner has their own camping style. Before buying a hole bunch of stuff use the teardrop a few times to determine your needs.

Depedends if you are a current camper or tenter. If so, you have previous experience to know what items belong in your camping style and most likely have the items on hand.

My must haves:
Screen room, weather dependent either the Northern Breeze or Paq Que 12x12.

Ground cover/rug: helpt to keep the rocks, sand, dirt off the bed

Dometic cf35- much better then a standard cooler

Dog-becoming a must have assessorie for any camping style

Book/movies- needed on rainy days

Wow were soul mates.

I have now been shopping my camper for a year. Almost placing an order last summer but the realization that it takes 6 months to build put it off. Now we keep going back and forth on the CampInn with its great design and build quality, the Vistabule with its huge windows and a T@B which offers room to put on your pants.

Sigh. We will figure it out too late for this camping season. Looks like another summer in the smokey mountains at moms house.

I too have been looking for 6 months now and have visited many websites but have not found any that appear to be as well built as Camp Inn. I am in the process of saving for my 560. Half way there at this point. Would be farther along but life has a way of making it harder with unexpected expenses. I would like to have 90% of the trailer paid for at the time that I order. Need another 6-8 months to accomplish that. I will get it done and so far have not found anything comparable to the camp inn in quality. Just feels like taking too long!

Thomas,

Once your order is placed, delivery occurs in 6 months. Ordering requires a 30% deposit.

Order now, then in 6 months you should have adequate funds based upon your statement that you need another 6 - 8 months to have all paid.

That might be a good idea. However with two kids in college, and my 25th wedding anniversary coming up there are some things that will take priority. I just feel safer with the money in their hands after the order is placed then in mine....if you know what I mean. I am sure that waiting after the order is placed is just as hard, but I will sleep better knowng its all paid for.

What a romantic Silver Anniversary gift… a Silver trailer.

Either she loves it or you have a place to sleep at night.

Fiscal responsibility how refreshing! Please run for congress. When you get your camper you will love it all the more knowing it is totaly yours. Good luck

I have been reading and saving for a while. In fact I beleive that I have all the accessories that I will need lined up. Besides being a great way for both of us to see the country the CI will be used as a hunting camp for me on the many adventures awaiting my retirement. A little longer wait wont kill me and all the tips I am gathering from this site will make our first camp out awesome.
As far as the anniversery; thats been being planned for a while. Punta Cana here we come!
Congress needs a lot more fiscal restraint than I can offer and hopefully changes will start after November. Thats another topic completely.

Hi Thomas,

We thought about which trailer and why for a while and now have settled on a Camp-Inn 550 Ultra. We had planned on the 560 Ultra, and had a chance to visit an owner about 2 hours from us. The 560 Ultra was awesome to see and the couch is a nice feature (and comfy), but somehow my husband and I like the true teardrop shape and the coziness of the 550. If you ask Cary, he can let you know if an owner is near you to visit. It is well worth it.

We aren't taking possession until April of 2015, but just put our order in and are now awaiting a quote from Cary. Wooo-hooo! We're so excited!

Good luck with your decision!

Diane

Congrats! I can't wait till I make that phone call. I may take your advice and try to see one first. However; I have been looking on the net and have seen many different companies and their ideas but seem to always come back to CI. I may be one of those who buy sight unseen but I am sure that I will be impressed. I am actually planning on taking a trip to the shop to place the order in that I have a few small modifications I would like to discuss. I am planning on placing a rack on the top for kayaks in the summer and other essentials for hunting season and I want to explore moving the fan farther to the front of the 560 ultra (so the rack does not interfere) while at the same time elliminating the sunroof. That however is another topic. I have seen recent posts from a couple in Alpharetta GA and may PM them to see their ride when they get it. Good Luck with the waiting game...I'm sure it will go by quickly.

Right there with you Thomas. I keep looking around and always end up back at the CampInn 560. I too am in process of saving the funds to make the purchase. I am not comfortable placing an order without full funds set aside for purchase. I am not a believer of deficit spending and so I wait and put funds aside, I have sold a bunch of stuff and put it int he CampInn envelope instead of the bank. As soon as I sell my boat, I should be ready to place my order, in the meantime, I watch with envy of others and their trips.

Thanks! I think, from what everyone says, that Camp Inn will work with you to get you the camper you want! Have fun with the whole process!

After we placed our initial order we added a couple of other things...there's so many great options, it is hard to say no to them!

I believe the sunroof isn't an option any longer. Cary can confirm that, though.

Best,
Diane

Thomas...
Have you checked out the ORU Kayak? You wouldn't need the roof racks...
We just got 2 and can't wait to post a photo with the teardrop in the background!!
ORU's are quite the design and phenomenal engineering. Cockpit is "small" but they paddle like a dream! Check out the website.
