Bike racks

I know this has been asked before but I have to bring up bike racks again. I did a search on this site for "bike" -- so I've read all the old posts. We can't seem to find a solution and now our tow vehicle has changed so we're starting over again.

We started with a bike rack mounted on the tire of our Jeep. That option drove Benn nuts. It took him an hour to mount and tie down the bikes. And he wouldn't let me open the Jeep door when the bike were mounted.

Then we tried a platform bike rack mounted on the trailer hitch of the CI. We really like the ease of putting the bikes in the rack. But it moves around too much on the back of the CI.

Last week we bought a Ram truck as our new TV. We'd like to mount the bikes between the truck and the CI. But need to be able to lower the tailgate and don't want dents in the CI. We're looking at the rack that attached to ball mount (see below). Is anyone using something like this? Are they sturdy? Or what else are you doing?

Thanks!

Might look at orsracksdirect.com and check out the various racks under truck racks. One like the Inno Velo Gripper might work depending how much you carry in bed of truck.
