On my way home from IRG, I stayed in Bullards Beach State Park near Bandon, OR. As I have said in previous posts, so far I am really liking the Oregon state parks. The campsites are nice with level pads and electical and water hookups:

The park map says that there is a trail to the beach but it is closed. The beach is about a mile away. You can drive there or ride your bike. There is a bike rack when you get there so you can lockup you bike while your are at the beach. The beach is beautiful:

Although Bailey found it a bit windy:

Joan,

Noticed in the second picture, that you have full filled the "dog kennel" role for the teardrop.

Ah, little Bailey, such a good boy! That looks like a wonderful place to stay for a long while.

When you say "West Coast", most people immediately think of Malibu or Carmel and though they are fab, nothing really compares to the North West Coast. The beaches are less crowded and, therefore, less cluttered with all the debris from the unthinking hoards (of course, we now have to contend with lots of stuff from Japan - and I don't mean cars - but that's another story). The surf is wilder and, combined with evergreen festooned cliffs, is a sight quite spectacular. And the solitude! For me, nothing really compares with walking down a black beach and seeing only my footsteps (and Jim's, of course).

Anyway, thanks for sharing, Joan and we'll be sure to try that place out soon.

Camp On,

Sue

We are really spoiled with our state parks – Oregon just does it really well, and Oregonians love and support them very well too.

I agree with you Joan! We have it good.

On occasion, it is good to check out the independents, especially as far north as we live. All those State Parks fill up fast! I am learning the hard way today, that 2 weeks notice isn't enough in the summer time. I will be checking out the KOA in Lincoln City, since that was one of the only 'available' sites (we got one of their last sites, and I am still wishing we could stay at a State Park, and hoping I get a notification soon, that someone has cancelled at our desired locations!). I will have to check out Bullards, next time we are down south. Thanks for sharing!

I like all of these new campground recommendations in our area! Giving me so many ideas!

While camping, Bailey's two favorite places are 1. Where there is food and 2. In the camper. I think he considers it his bed away from home, bed being his favorite place at home.
