Damascus knives?

I’ve been exploring Damascus knives lately and am fascinated by the patterns and durability. I’m curious about recommendations from skilled knife makers—who do you trust for quality Damascus blades?
Do you prefer them for display, everyday use, or outdoor activities like hunting? Any tips on what to look for in a genuine Damascus knife versus the lower-quality versions out there would be greatly appreciated.

Love the Damascus steel, but I use mine too hard to think about buying something nice -- Kershaws, and my old Blackie Collins Gerber bolt action (that I can't seem to find ) is as exotic as I dare...
